Mask Creator
Trying to create a mask using a still, but the frame adjustment tools aren't working. I can see the full image in the small preview window, but only part of the image in the working window, and I can't adjust the size or position of the image I want to mask. Moving the image in the preview window only moves the image in the working window a small amount and not enough to mask all of the image.

Hi Fred
Can you provide a screen shot of the Mask Creator Panel and attach to your reply.
I assume you are using an image and not a video clip.
When I view the Mask Creator I see the same image on the larger screen as the small screen
We cannot resize the image or move the image it remains a full size
Once we draw a mask selection we can use the move tool to reposition the mask but not change the image position.

Re: Mask Creator
Hi Trevor--
Yes, I am using an image and not a video. I've attached a screen shot of the panel. As you see, the image in the preview screen is wider than the image in the working screen, but the slider below the working screen isn't working so I can't adjust the size of the image in the working screen. Would the Resampling Option effect the size of one image and not the other? I have it set to "Fit to project size" both under preferences and in my project, but it seems to reset to "Keep aspect ratio" sometimes and I'm not sure why.

Re: Mask Creator
Hi Fred
I have tried several options to resize my image and cannot replicate what you see
You may be best to set the project properties to use 16:9, the default 1920 x 1080 for Hd video is suitable
Using the resampling options will / may distort the image, I would use an image editor to trim / resize the image to 16:9 then there is no need to use the programs resampling options.
From the timeline, right click the image for properties – what are the width and height of your image.

Re: Mask Creator
When you resized your image did your slider work? Because that's my issue. The plus and minus symbols are dim and the slider won't move. As you suggested, I reset my project properties to 1920X1080 and I'll see if that helps. Meanwhile here are the properties of the image I'm working with.

Re: Mask Creator
Hi Fred
The image you are using is a panorama type, very long horizontally
The Mask Creator appears to default to using 16:9 will fit the image vertically but will be to long
You should use an image editor to resize the image to 16:9 ratio.
You were using the resample options, that will distort the image, if that is ok then using an image editor to do that would be better.
The image itself is a low resolution at 700 x 305, as such will be pretty poor quality when viewed within a video file.
The other option would be to use an image editor to delete the image details to create the mask, then save as a png image which supports transparencies.
Using that on the overlay track would show the transparency.

the + and - signs you are referring to do not change the image size - in any screen - they are to increase the LENGTH of video shown in the elongated window between the working window and the preview window
just test with a video and you will see those buttons and slider become alive and paying with them will show what they do to a video - they are not for use with a still and do not affect the working image size
The problem you are having appears to be due to the use of a non-standard picture size - it is not a true 16:9 format - try the mask creater with a true 16:9 image and I think you will then find it will fill the working screen
