Problem withPSP2020 slow opening/not opening/Hanging

Post by Fishtug »

Lately my Paint Shop Pro 2020 64 bit version takes forever to load - When it does load it will freeze at random - Task Manager shows "PSP...Not responding" - This happens quite often and I am at a loss as to what causes it - Sometimes it will recover but most times I have to 'End Task' and reload - Occasionally it will take two or three tries to 'End Task' - I run Windows 10 Pro version 64 Bit - Intel i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00GHz with 32 Gigs of Ram with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 - I have checked for driver upgrades and any scheduled scans show no problems - All else seems to run smoothly - Any pointers as to where to start looking will be greatly appreciated -
Thanks folks

See if the suggestions in this thread help you.

If not, you can try a reset to default. Here are the instructions. They reference X6 but apply to all versions.

PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Does anybody have an answer - All I get is PSP not responding - It will take up to an hour to open -
Every other program works as it should - Does anybody at Corel have a clue?
Kathy_9 the suggestions didn't help - Thanks anyway -

Do you have access to another computer you can install the program on to see if the same problem occurs there?
If it does not occur on another machine then it suggests that something about your system may be causing trouble.
If it occurs on the other computer then it suggests that your install program may be at fault and yoiu may need to download a fresh installation program.

I find this hard to believe when for example in my case the program starts without any issues the first time after a boot, then based on factor X (like time of day, day of the week or whatever) doesn't start anymore. Also in my case this has been more of a problem only after the maybe the latest update to the program. Or at least now it happens every single time, when before it happened only very occasionally that I didn't pay that much attention to it.

So what kind of problem could there be with the installation program that causes this kind of behavior. How does it allow a broken file (or whatever causes it) to be installed?

For me this is just a plain bug in the program that the devs need to fix.

If it is a bug in the program than it would be consistent and many others would report the same problem. So that hypothesis does not work.
As well with windows updates occurring at odd times it may be that that is interfering in your case.

I upgraded to Paint Shop Pro 2020 4 days ago from 2019 and i to for some odd reason am experiencing slow load up times.

This shouldn't be so on my PC as the spec of my system greatly out weighs whats asked for.
