Mac Alternatives to Video Studio
I got my PC back in 2012 and although it was pretty high spec at the time it’s beginning to creak with age so i’m looking to get an upgrade.
Am seriously looking at moving over to Mac as I have familiarity with that OS. What I want to know is which video editing packages for the Mac are the closest to VS for ease of use and have all the goodies that make VS so good a package. I don’t want anything much more complex than the VS interface.
Any recommendations please?

You are going to have great difficulty finding a NLE for Mac, the main one available is Adobe Premiere Elements 2020, but that is nowhere near as user friendly as VS, Magix appear to be Windows only, as does CyberLink, there may be other Mac compatible NLEs available, you will need to Google search

You might want to have a look at this one: https://www.cinema5d.com/media-100-nle- ... -now-free/
Otherwise, apart from Adobe (both Premiere and Elements), you will have to think about the high end Adobe Final Cut Pro. There may be others, but as you might imagine, there might not be all that many of us here in this forum who know much about Apple Mac software...

Moving back to mac?
You can try
https://shotcut.org/blog/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DaVinci_Resolve
https://kdenlive.org/en/about/
Are they like VS... no , they have better tools and they have worse tools
** Ken, I knew Media 100 ~30 years ago, they came out about same time as AVID MC, it had amazing SD quality, it didn't sell well as AVID back then.

Re: Mac Alternatives to Video Studio
Thanks for the advice. DaVinci Resolve looks to be a pretty decent package that (at first sight) doesn’t seem overly complex. Plus - unbelievably - it’s free in a fully featured version, albeit without some really high end stuff like colour correction which I’ve never used and am unlikely to for the sort of projects I do.
I’m not going to take my PC or VS offline for a while as I am mid-project and will have a year or so to teach myself DaVinci. I’ll report back here to let people know if there really is life beyond VS!

Re: Mac Alternatives to Video Studio
Yes, Resolve is excellent, even in the free version. But it is not a simple as you may think. There will be quite a steep learning curve. But put in the effort and you should be pleased...

Thanks - Hitfilm Express seems far closer to what I’m looking for so i’ll be trying that first.

And best of all, I think the Express version is free. I have the Pro version...
