Unable to add track motion

I’m a little new, so forgive my newbie ness if this is a simple problem, but I searched all over the web and Manual and I can’t find a solution.

I cannot match motion on any object I can set trackers, but when I choose an overlay and Marion, match motion is grayed out. I did this once but every other time I try this the option is disabled. When I try to add an overlay from the motion tracking tab I get an error:

“The matched object along the path exceeds the trimmed duration. It will not be added to overlay track”

I don’t know what that means, I tried increasing and decreasing the duration of the overlay and the original video, but nothing seems to work. I would appreciate any solutions.
