Version 2019 SIMPLE screen capture - SOLVED

Post by richinri »

I have no way to capture a portion of my screen with this multi-capture thing. I used to be able to draw a square around the portion of screen I was capturing. Now I can't. This makes NO sense to me at all. I want to do a simple screen capture where I select the portion of screen I want captured. How is this done with this latest version? Yes I clicked custom but I can't select a portion of the screen. Where is the simple screen capture that was in all other versions??

Any reason why you are using the multi-cam option to capture just a small single part of your screen

if all you want is one small capture then use the "Live screen Capture" option - for which you will find an icon on your desktop - then there are numerous options to select the bit you want including a 'freehand selection'

Called Multi Cam Capture Lite which will allow us to connect several cameras but we can still do a screen recording

Once opened shows two panels the larger one has a Freehand Selection next to the resolution, the icon with a small arrow
Click that to select then drag over your desktop to draw a selection
The W and H will show the resolution
I tend to set to 1280 x 720, but then I do not have a 4K monitor.
Anyway you can re position or resize the selection

Should you wish to capture a particular window there is an option appropriately called Capture Window option
Once selected you should also be able to re-size which will change the option to Custom

And there is my issue, I installed and have no "Live Screen Capture" option on my desktop. Do you have an actual name of the .exe file and I will search. Perhaps it didn't get installed although I checked and everything else was there. I checked the program directory for an .exe and can't find it. The only option put on my desktop is the MultiCam option.

Due to my not having any "Live Screen Capture on my desktop for reasons unknown, the only option I saw was MultiCam option. I played with this for an hour and can't seem to get it to work. I have the "custom" button selected and the little icon to the left of it but can't select a portion of the screen. Can you maybe give me a screen shot in the event I am missing something? The only option I have on my desktop is the Multicam option and there is no other option labeled "Live screen capture" on the desktop or in the output options. If you check the large PDF help file downloaded last night, Live Screen capture is given an index listing but when you go to the page it isn't there.

Hi
Live Screen Capture is not available using 2019 which uses Multi Cam Capture

2018 and earlier used LSC

Thanks to all. Problem solved. When custom screen size is selected the little arrow is lit up. One has to click the little arrow to turn it off before selecting the custom screen size. To me, that is counter intuitive but hey, it works. Thanks.

As lata said, 2019 replaced LSC - which was a simple, user-intuitive screen capture tool - with Multi-camera Capture Lite (MCCL) which is a bastardised version of a camera control program Corel thought would be a great screen capture tool and hey? offer payable upgrade to the full version.
Until MCCL, not many of us appreciated just what a gem that LSC program was. Users made a lot of noise about MCCL replacing it, but were ignored. I never found MCCL to be much good - I've used terms like over-engineered, under-performing, unmanageable and junk, and many agreed with me - and I even suggested that if Corel was bent on this, they should include both in the package - like they do with fast flick and MyDVD for different ways of doing the same thing with less capable quickkie apps as the more capable software. But we've been ignored.

So if you like LSC, keep a copy of the older VS version with came with installed so you can use it. You can have more than one version of VS installed - but windows will only run one at a time. And LSC runs fine whatever version of VS is actually live at the time.

Although I have no need of the multi cam features and only use for screen capture I have no problems in doing that.
Once I have set the Settings with the Freehand area selected, and Advanced tab options to choose a record format, I usually change to AVC.
I then hit F9 to remove the larger screen that leaves me with a LSC look alike panel.
F11 and F10 shortcut keys work as LSC, very little difference here.

And yes Corel are offering an upgrade to the full version, last week that was discounted to £7.00 in UK
