Hello,
Psp 2020U
Is there a setting in Psp that I can enable so when I open a .jpg it will automatically open as a Raster layer instead of a Background layer?
I have been playing around with Gimp 2.10 & found that was pretty handy, automatically adding an alpha channel when I opened an image...
Many thanks,

I don't think so, but you can at least make it a one-click operation instead of having to open the context menu to promote that background layer to a raster layer. Just go to Customize, choose Layers in the Categories window and, from the Commands, window drag the Promote Background Layer command to either the top or bottom button bar of the Layers palette and then save your workspace. Then, when you open an image, just click that new button to promote the background layer to a raster layer.
I actually use a boundscript button on the bottom button bar of the Layers palette that runs a small script that both promotes the background layer to a raster layer and also duplicates that raster layer. I just prefer starting out by doing my adjustments on a new layer rather than the original layer. It helps if I want to quickly change the visibility of the upper layers to compare how any adjustment I have made varies the look of the image from the original.

Re: Opening Imported Files
This possibility has been removed from PSP 2020. It still exists in the previous versions. In those versions, when you open an image, you tick "Enable Pre-processing" (see attached) and it will do the selected action on all other images you will open.

Re: Opening Imported Files
You can also make a script that opens the Open File command and replace the menu, button, and shortcut.
