I want to update and upgrade my old Travel & Family VS projects dating back to Ulead years (2005).
At the time , there were great ALBUM transitions (8 or 9 of them) that I used in my VSPs because they looked great (very classy and colorful) compared with the lame pale grey only Album transition of VS2019.
I still have the CD with the old “Album.vfx” file that was then part of the “vfx_plug” folder of Ulead 9.0, and from what I can see VS2019 still have the same folder structure.
I tried inserting and even replacing or renaming the old transition file “Album.vfx” into the VS2019 “vfx_plug” folder, but the transition is not reflected in the transitions library so that i can reuse it.
Any way I can add a transition to the VS transition library to use it to update my old VSPs ?

Re: Add old Album transition to transition Library ?
First issue you have is that the ancient Album.vfx is 32bit, and your current VS is 64bit.

Re: Add old Album transition to transition Library ?
Thanks asik1 !
(1) any way to convert a 32 to a 64 bit file (sounds like a silly question but just in case) ?
(2) does it mean that I could load VSX7-32 bit and make it work to update/upgrade my old VSPs ? (I believe VSX8 is when 64 bit was introduced; I could not find on the Corel website but I still have a copy of the original VSX7-32 bit file)

If you have X7 disk than indeed you can install it and put that vfx file there. Than all you need is to cross your fingers in both hands, run the program and see .

Re: Add old Album transition to transition Library ?
Well,
inserting the old album.vfx transition in the transition folder of VSX7-32 bit did not work out.
It still does not show in the library and VSX7-32 bit freezes when you click on the old album transition in the timeline with the old 2005 VSP loaded, even when the rest works ok.
So I cleaned up VSX7 and re-installed a fresh VS2019.
However I then realized that your comment led me to notice while playing with the album transition of VS2019 that it allows customization of the album to a very similar look than the old 2005 one. Even if VS2019 seems to slow down and be lenghty in customizing an album when working in the timeline of the VSP project ( it "freezes" during the customization process so you have to be patient before VS gets back and allows continuation of the project...even if my modern computer is very powerful and fast, and never freezes or crash, sometimes VS does...???), but it works.
My old photos of 2005 were of high resolution so I have been able to reconstruct it into an updated VSP under VS2019 and render it in FullHD and 4K 16:9 movies as an upgrade from my old DVD 4:3 quality then.
Many thanks for your input !

Re: Add old Album transition to transition Library ?
you didn't had to remove VS, two or more versions can be installed but only one can run at a time.

Re: Add old Album transition to transition Library ?
My "modern" computer performs great with all other softwares, never an issue, never freezes, never crashes, but It seems like VS is more sensitive than ever to conflict or issues...
I don't know if it is only me but since I upgraded my VS "X" series for VS2018 and now VS2019 thinking it would be more reliable despite Corel's urge for profitable annual versions, I have more issues than ever before... VS freeze or crash when using 3D Title Editor, clicking noise in audio despite fade-in/fade-out (never had that before), bog when adding a VSP to the timeline, rendering to MP4 stopping 99% complete but with separate audio and video files not merged (never had that before), broken zoom dotted-line frame in Pan & Zoom (never had that before), ....always something now...?).
So each time I had an issue or a bog with VS and I ended up with Technical Support (after 2 or 3 Customer Support recycles), they always mention to use the clean-up process to remove all traces of current and previous versions (the usual delete Temp files, run Cleanup.exe, re-install fresh VS from their website, etc...) because "VS is sensitive to version collision" (quote), thus my reluctance.
