Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
I am having problems with Multicam Editor in Videostudio Ultimate 2019. After opening the Multicam editor I am faced with the Source Manager page which gives me the option of selecting upto 6 video files plus 2 audio files. Having selected a number of video files and giving the project a new name I click on OK. At this point the computer tries to open Multicam Editor and for a short time the editor screen appears, although there are no video files shown. The program then shuts down to my Desk Top. I contacted Corel Help and eventualy a couple of months ago they acknowledged that they had become aware of this issue but to date I have not been told of any patch or update that will correct this problem. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and managed to resolve it?

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi David
And welcome to the forums
I did not realise this was a problem and as far as I know you are the first to report to the forums
There have been many issues with the program closing down with no error messages, that we are aware of but MCE, hmmm
How many videos did you use and what type were they?
You could try another approach
From the main editor create another library media folder, Hit the Add
Now import your video files to this folder, in order with camera 1 being the first clip
Select all clips, right click for Multi Cam Editor
That does open the source manager but with the files selected
Rename the project then OK
Does that crash.
As for resolving the crashes, unfortunately no, like you I was hoping for a service pack to address these Silent Closures
The crashes are random, but does MCE crash for you every time?

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Trevor,
Thank you for your response. This does happen on every occasion that I try it. I have just followed your suggestion. There were three separate camera files. Two were .mts files and one .mpg. I did try the program on a friends laptop and it worked fine. I’m no expert but have been thinking that it’s the Graphics card that is possibly causing this. When I contacted Corel help, on many occasions, they did ultimately tell me that it was something that they were aware of, would escalate my problem and get back to me. That was October/November last year. In December they said I would receive an update soon. Still waiting.

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Have you tested this with the video clips caming with VideoStudio itself? Just trying to isolate the problem. If those are working, then can you try different combinations if one of your own clips could cause this?

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Thank you Pepi, I have tried both mp4 and wmv files that came with video studio and unfortunately it still crashes. I did have the same problem when I tried to use the Stop Motion facility in Videostudio. I managed to solve that by changing the default location for the Stop Motion. I wondered if that might also solve the issue with the Multicam Editor but I’m not sure where the current default folder is and how I can change its location. I don’t know if you or any other user can help me.

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi David
Interesting comment regarding the Default Location
I do not think you can change that using MCE which use this folder
C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\22.0\MultiCam
Using MCE I don’t see an option to change that location.
What happens if you DO NOT add any video in the source manager and just OK to open the Editor
Then ok to close – that should add the VSP to the library
Or does it still crash, if so that rules out the video
Have you re-installed the program

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi Trevor, I've now tried using the Multicam Editor without selecting any files and the same thing happens. With regard to reinstalling the software, i have done this many times at the request of Corel Support and it has never made any difference. I suppose I will have to wait until Corel come up with an answer or in a few years time when i'm looking to replace my computer. It is annoying when I could be using that facility to sync the sound rather than using clapped hands or eyesight!

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi David
At least we can rule out any video files as being the problem.
I have attached a MCE VSP which should open the Multi Cam Editor without going through the Source Editor
You will have to download the file, then rename the file by removing the .txt
The forum will not allow attaching .vsp we just fool it.
Now import the VSP to the media library, create a new library folder if you wish
Double click the library MCEforDavid.vsp and the Multi Cam Editor should open
Or does it crash.
If it opens – across the top of the timeline, far left is an icon to open the Source Manager, looks a little different to the first Source Manager
Add Clips opens windows browser to select clips.

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi Trevor, At first i couldn't see the .txt as Windows was hiding it but got there eventually. I did as you suggested but the Multicam Editor didn't open. Double clicking the .vsp file opened the normal VideoStudio editing page with a blank in the video track. Played that track and it was just blank. In one of the Corel VideoStudio workshops on YouTube I'm sure that when they opened up the Multicam Editor it went straight to editor not Source manager like it does on my computer. I can't get it to do that. I fo hope i can resolve it evetually. Thank you for your help.

David
You have to import the VSP to the library, one of the media folders
It is from the library that double clicking should / will open the MCE

Trevor, Right I've got the file that you sent to me showing in the Library and have double clicked it. It tried to open Multicam Editor but I'm sorry to say that it crashed again at that point.

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi David
First go here
C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\22.0\MultiCam
Does the MultiCam folder exist, delete all content and try again to fun MCE
I know you have re-installed the program but all I can suggest is that you do that again.
You should use the Cleanup Tool to remove the program
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Then rename or delete the folder 23.0
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\23.0
If you cannot find that folder it may be hidden type %appdata% in the “windows search” to find C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming
You can then locate the 23.0 folder.
Installing the program
I would download the Main program again just to make sure you have the latest version
I assume you have the Ultimate version
Locate your download files for 2019
Within the 64bit folder is a folder called Ultimate, rename that to Ultimate _old
Running the web Installer aka Stub VideoStudio_Install.exe ( approx. 7.042Kb) will first download a new Ultimate folder
Then install
Afaik the MCE is installed from the Ultimate folder / Main Program so you could just install that for the time being.
Running the Stub again to install the rest of the program later.
You could of course download the entire packages again by choosing a new empty folder as the Download Location
Choosing Download Only should allow you to download whilst the program is installed.

Re: Corel Videostudio 2019 Multicam Editor issues
Hi Trevor, Well I deleted the original downloaded program as you suggested and then followed through with your further suggestions and then tried opening the .vsp that you sent to me. All this made no difference and the program shut down. I’m coming to the conclusion that it is either a Hardware issue on my part or, as the Multicam Editor actually opens the editor page, though no files loaded, before shutting it down. Could it be down to a conflict issue? What also puzzles me that all Corel demonstrations of Multicam Editor open directly to the Editor screen rather than source manager, which would not really be required if the video files had been preselected from the Library screen. I could attach a screen capture of what happens if that assists.
