VideoStudio 2019 UI too small on 4K monitor

Post by Dealio »

In December I bought and installed VideoStudio 2019 successfully. I ran it just to see the interface and begin to get familiar and was immediately disappointed. I have dual 4K monitors and the user interface in VideoStudio is so tiny (the text and some other UI elements) it is difficult to read. Reviewing the program Preferences and searching this forum and other sources for a way to increase the text size has been fruitless so far. The means I've used to address this issue with other applications is to add a registry entry under HKLM (PreferExternalManifest) and place an .exe.manifest file in the same directory as the executable. But VS2019 comes with a manifest file already, and I don't want to edit it.

Is there a way I've overlooked to adjust the size of the menu and other UI text so that it is larger on a 3840x2160 (4K) monitor?

TIA

Welcome to the forum!

I too have a 4K set up. The only way I have found to get around the VS interface size problem is the following:

1. Go to the desktop VS 2019 icon and right click it.
2. Choose Properties.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4. Down towards the bottom of that tab, click on "Change high DPI settings".
5. In the dialogue box which appears, check the box beside "Override high DPI scaling behaviour".
6. You might also have to change the setting in the box immediately below this from "Application" to "System".
7. Click OK twice to close those dialogue boxes.

Thanks for such a quick reply Ken. I had forgotten about the resolution you mentioned -- seen it before, but never had to use it. It works, mostly. The UI is a little blurry on some text, and setting it to System (Enhanced) clarifies the text, but distorts some other small graphic icons, but not beyond legibility. It's usable. Thank you.

I hope Corel updates the application to natively support high DPI monitors soon. Kinda surprising that in 2019/2020 there are still popular apps that don't support 4K monitors natively.
