Saving multi trimmed video as individual files

Post by bgamd »

Videostudio user since 2005! I know a few things but apparently not everything.
I have some old lengthy single video files that I want to extract segments for posting online. Currently using Ultimate VideoStudio 2019 but I still have working versions back to Pro X5.
I have attempted to use the "multi trim video" feature and like the process. However, when I use "save trimmed video" I'm getting one file with all trimmed video included. I need these trimmed segments to be saved as individual files for posting on youtube. I know I can cut them and drag them into a folder and process them individually, but that seems to be a lot of extra work. There must be a better way! If you know one , please share it. Thanks in advance.

Hi
Multi Trim Video is just a means of cutting the video into sections and retaining the bits you need
Not a lover of using that tool I prefer to use the scissors on the timeline to cut my video clips and if I wished delete the bits I don’t need, just personal preference

Once I have cut the video into several clips I select any clip then File – Save Trimmed Video should/does for me render that section to a new video file , saving the file in the Working Folder and placing a clip/thumbnail in the library
If I wanted to check the length I can drag it to the overlay track below the source clip, it should be identical.

Thanks for the tips. I am doing something similar but there are a number of steps that I was hoping to eliminate.
In my case, I have a single file video of a music performance. It would be great if I could cut the file up into selected pieces, then process and send them to youtube without having to deal with each clip individually. It doesn't look we have that availability. I guess that is asking for a lot, but it shouldn't be too much to ask for these trimmed clips to be (batch) rendered as individual files in their native format. I can always use another program to batch convert for youtube use....and can batch upload them to youtube as well. Cheers

Hi
Unfortunately Save Trimmed Video only works with one clip at a time.
Video Studio works with virtual clips that represent the files on the hard dive and as such the trimmed clips need rendering to create the new video file.
The process is quick as it uses the source settings.
I don’t see any reason why the Save Trimmed Video could not do multiple selections, except depending on the type of edits / filters applied it may not work at all.
Mercalli comes to mind, if that is used Save Trimmed Video would not work.

At the present time its one at a time.

Your title may have been better as "Saving multi trimmed video for multiple clips"
