Correct me if I'm wrong here, but OpenStreeMap doesn't let you use its Tiler, it only provides API access to data. So you can get the name of a location by GPS coordinates but you wouldn't be able to show the map in the app the same way you can with Google Maps. You'd have to use another library/server/service as well as OpenStreetMap's location data. Not saying this would strop them, but it does put a wrinkle in moving to a new system that maybe the head honchos weren't willing to spend production dollars on.
