Re: PSP2020 Geotagging stopped working
I've been offered a refund!
I had responded back citing specific UK (vintage 1967) legislation relating to misrepresentation in commercial contracts that gives rights to the injured party to rescind the contract. Corel has continued to publish information about the mapping facilities (e.g. knowledge base and help). There is other (EU, UK) consumer rights legislation covering misleading statements (UK -> Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, The Control of Misleading Advertisements Regulations 1988). Enforcing them is difficult!
As it is, I am not sure I can be bothered to jump through all the hoops to get the small refund (I got what I thought was a good, low price for the upgrade), uninstall, re-install PSP2019 and still have brokem geotagging. I have mitigated my loss by getting my own Google Maps API key for effectively zero cost so I am not really out-of-pocket.
I will not be buying any more Corel products, though.

Oops? That's fine for you.
Re: PSP2020 Geotagging stopped working
Today I learned that the entire "Places" tab will disappear, so my "workaround" of adding the coordinates by Copy & Paste will bei gone, too.

So it's "no" to updates and certainly, for me, "no" to upgrades.Marco73 wrote:Today I learned that the entire "Places" tab will disappear, so my "workaround" of adding the coordinates by Copy & Paste will bei gone, too.

Re: PSP2020 Geotagging stopped working
The response we got from the beta forums is that Google changed their agreement and Corel was working to work it out. But clearly couldn't come to an agreement. It is a shame they're not just offering a slightly different or less auto-mated places option if the report from support is correct.
It would be nice if they offered an API/SDK for creating plugins that added functions to their management software. Then devoted community members with time and experience could provide an add-on that gave this functionality. Corel would only have to ensure they had a good plugin system in place and keep that updated no need to rely on third-party services like Google Maps and their own developers.

I can't understand why thy don't stick with the option to enter coordinates.
Just remove that Google Maps-Window and everything is fine.

Or leave the mapping feature in, normally hiding it but allow users to optionally reactivate by adding their own Google Map API key in the File/Preferences interface?LeviFiction wrote:It would be nice if they offered an API/SDK for creating plugins that added functions to their management software. Corel finally paid off
Re: PSP2020 Geotagging stopped working
That would be a nice move, too ... but I guess the danger of people killing the program is much too high ...Andy2011 wrote:Or leave the mapping feature in, normally hiding it but allow users to optionally reactivate by adding their own Google Map API key in the File/Preferences interface?

Re: PSP2020 Geotagging stopped working
Hi PSP users,
We appreciate all of you spend time discussing map functionality status in the forum. We are sorry to inform you, due to a change in Google Maps terms since last year, we no longer support this feature functionality in PaintShop Pro. Our product team is currently exploring possible alternatives for future consideration. Thanks for your understanding.
