I had lovely thick hair until VS came along !!

Post by garjobo123 »

..not im a Kojak and not through age but through sheer frustration thanks to this ….this.....

Prey tell me please...

I completed my little 3minute project, loads of edits and time spent. I simply clicked MP4 render ( smartrender auto. on anyway ) and waited about..25min for it to render and sure enough it works..fine.

I noticed a few things I would like to re-do though. So, my project was still on the timeline, I tweaked, and then hit Share - MP4 - Rendered ( it took quicker this time ). End result..was ok..dunno..thought I could hear a few more 'clunks' re the sound quality...but all ok.

However, I decided to alter it slightly again. Once again, my project was already sitting on the timeline. I tweaked, rendered. When I went to view the ( again fast rendering time ) project...it was ok...but then midday the screen went blank a second..like a corrupted file...few blanks on screen and then back to normal. More hair began falling out!!…. Annoying.

Why is this?

What about if I go back to one of the earlier Saves of this project...and amend what I want..and then render....will be be better quality ? less risk of this 'blankish /corrupt screen blacks out squares appears for a few seconds. WHAT IM ASKING IS, How can I ensure I do my FINAL EVER render on a project...to ensure best quality? Too late? Ive saved as I went...so...VS has 'already once rendered' my project...so all downhill from here?

Ensure that your project properties match those of your video clips.

You seem to be under the impression that VS alters source clips when it edits and renders. However, VS is an NLE system that performs non-destructive editing on source material, i.e. you can edit and render a clip as many times as you like without effecting the source.

VS produces audio blips in the output at times (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=66212&start=29).

Thank you for the replies, and happy to note that VS does not decrease quality re rendering.

Strange though why on the 3rd render ( as mentioned, I altered a few seconds of my short video ) the render definitely appears...hard to say...certainly that literal 'breakdown' for a second - the video literally stops - grey screen fraction of second followed by a few blocks appearing - aka..when you put in a scratched dvd to a dvd player...the type of effect. Never had that before - a bad render.

NOW - I will add...I am ( reluctantly ) using a IPAD 6 for my recordings..too late now...never a fan..but that's what I used.

SO - your saying for me to check properties...NEVER could get a grasp of that..and always assumed - Autosetup - would suffice.

Clicking on one clips;

MPEG 4
TYPE - H 264 HIGH PROFILE TYPE
ATTRIBUTES - 24BITS 1920 X 1080
FRAME RATE - 29.937 FRAMES A SECOND
DATA RATE -15976 KBPS
Audio type - mpeg AAC AUDIO
BIT RATE - 84 KBPS
ATTRIBUTES - 44100HZ 156BIT MONO

SO - anything special about above? How to alter settings?

I have never seen black screen without explanation. So the first questin is, go back to VS: can see the same black screen on preview? I personally have always found the black screens on there. And please select "project" on the preview, not the clip:

Can you test the same using some alternative video file? Can you still see the same issues?
