After experiencing some frustration with chapter names not carrying over to authoring mode and seeing in other discussions that this is sort of just how it works I wanted to share my experience and apparent workaround (if this has been covered elsewhere my apologies - hopefully it's useful to someone searching for info on this).
I'm making a family movie DVD, just a series of video clips. I want each clip to be its own chapter, with a unique name, so you can find it on the title menu and go right to whatever clip you want.
I was frustrated to see that chapter points I had added and renamed in edit mode did not carry over to create (authoring) mode. Moreover, it seems really inconvenient to rename them there because (as far as I can tell) the only way to do it is on the "Menu and Preview" page, but there I have no way to preview the clip to know which one it is. So I suppose I would have to capture a list from edit mode (I guess just taking a photo of the chapter point manager or something like that) and use that to rename the chapters. Not the worst thing in the world, but we hope that's not the standard Corel is aiming for!
To make a long story short, what I discovered is this process for getting the chapter points renamed in Edit and carrying them over to Create:
1. Delete all chapter points in Edit.
2. Go to Create and auto create chapters at each scene (this is what I needed, I assume it works with any chapters you create at this stage).
3. Close create mode and save project (I just overwrite the original project)
4. Re-open project, go to edit and the chapters are all there. Rename them with chapter point manager.
5. Go to create mode and voila, the chapter names are all retained.
