OK, so I am now up and running again but I still have the same problem:

I keep changing the workspace colour to light grey but it keeps reverting to dark grey. This is both on a reload/reboot and when the program has simply been sitting open for some time. Also, when the program has a light grey background, whenever I load an image it loads first with a dark grey background then reverts to light grey, slowing the process down. How do I get it to keep light grey and not load all images on a dark grey background?

I can , and have tried, changiung the colour under both User Interface / Workspace Colour / Light Grey and View / Workspace Colour / Light Grey but it still reverts to Dark Grey (which I would call black!). I HATE the black interface. How do I get the program to save the preferences?

You could try resetting the program: hold down the Shift key while clicking the desktop icon to open PSP. You will get a message asking if you want to reset. Make sure you save any customized workspace before you do this -- otherwise, it will be lost in the reset.

Hi Ken, I have just completely re-installed after using the PSP2020 clean-up tool. This problem occured when I first installed 2020 in November. Within a few days of that I had to go overseas (family emergency) and so did not get back to my desktop PC until 20th January. Shortly after that I started this thread. Having read that do you still recommend a reset?

Having written that I decided to try it anyway. The reset worked and I had effectively a newly installed program (again!). I quickly set my basic preferences, loaded and saved an image, then closed the program down. Upon re-starting I get a black edit screen! I have re-set the Workspace preferences to light grey and it will be interesting to see how long it is before the program decides to over-ride this again.

Am I missing something?

I am a long term user (since about V4) and no other version of the program has given me problems like this.

If there is no solution I want my money back and will revert to PSP2019

Well, I can understand your angst... All I can say is that, for me at least, I set the workspace colours when I first installed PSP 2020, and -- for me at least! -- they have have always remained that way. No problems at all...
