.mov File Mismatch issues in VS x10

Post by LBRESLOW »

I have some old .mov videos that I am trying to bring into x10 and I am getting mismatch errors on all of them. The Quicktime software no longer works in Win 10 so I added codecs from the Microsoft website, but that did not work either. Any suggestions on how I can import these files into X10? Do I need to convert them to avi or mp4 files? If so what software do I use to convert them. Thanks. I appreciate any assistance.

PS We had these videos in x10 in our older computer but since we changed computers they don't work in x10 any longer.

What do you mean when you say WIN 10 does not support QuickTime, of course it does, follow the instructions given by Ken

LBRESLOW -- Apple no longer supports Quicktime for any version of Windows, but that apparently relates to some perceived problems or shortcomings in the QT Player. The QT .mov codec itself, however, gives no problems. And in that link which RobertOZ has provided, it shows how to load just the codec and not the other things which came with it in the past.

Can someone (Robert or Ken or ?) provide me w a link to re-install quicktime. Not sure why it is no longer installed - it had been there recently.
Is the version still QT 7 for Win10

Or is there a codec to install that windows recognizes so that VS will open mov files again (think I read here that VS looks to Windows for the codec to handle these files?)

Thank you...
