How to animate handwrite

Post by Pepi »

Hi,
I have a picture where I have a kind of logo. Few latters and lines there. Any proposals how I'm able to animate that so that it comes as someone is drawing the logo? Background of the picture is white.

Something like this (Youtube): Handwritten Text Effect | Self Writing | After Effect Tutorial

I tried to use mask creator, puuf! Not working, I wish to not do frame by frame modification :)
Then I found ProDad's effect, but that did not help with already existing picture.

Any other idea?

VS2019 is the tool.

you can record the "writing" in painting creator - White over black with wide brush and use that as video mask.
As long as you "reveal" a single image it should work ok. For video it has a bug.

Hi
Asik mentioned using Painting Creater
Go to Tools - Painting Creater, you can record whilst writing your text
Once complete a mask clip is placed in the library, drag to overlay track

I think the YT? Link may have been wrong??

Hi lata
I believe the YT link was correct, that person was using the Painting Creater for having animated mask. But that I feel was a bit complicated as the video contains other modifications than animated mask only.

Last night I successfully to get it done, with Painting Creater. The were few key things:
A] remember to uncheck: "set reference image as background image". Otherwise your mask contains original picture as well :D
B] when I had the animated drawing (black line on white), then make it as a video.
C] the hardest part was to understand how to make the drawing, but that I success by having white (depends of the background colour of logo) frames on main video, the logo on Overlay1 and white frames again on Overlay 2. For the Overlay 2 I added the video mask I did on step B.

Then I had a logo which was written has handwrite. To able to add it on the video/picture I need to add this video on Overlay and with Chroma Key remove the white from video.

With the Chroma key it might require to modify "Similarity" value.

Here is a dirty example :D

Of course resolutions and video/image sizes cause a headache as sometimes my mask video was with wrong size compared to logo.
