Hi,
I'm new to Corel Videostudio and using the 2018 and 2019 versions in different places.
When I insert a clip in the video track on the 2019 version it creates a transition and doesn't move the clips along to the right. On the 2018 version it does do this. On 2018 I drop a new clip in between two clips and everything pushes along automatically. Can anyone point me to where I can change this setting? I've looked at some youtube vids and read the manual but can't figure it out.
Another difference is the clips don't automatically 'snap' left to the start of the project or snap to join the previous clip (in 2019 version) but they do in the 2018 version. I have to click 'remove gap' each instead. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here!
Please can someone help me?
Thank you!

(F6) or Settings – Preferences – Edit tab
You have probably set Transition Effect to Automatically add transition effect
Deselect that and when inserting clips to the top track they should add without a transition.
All clips added to the top track will shift left when first dropped, this is a feature of video studio editing and works very well.
Gap editing was introduced with 2019 and has caused a lot of problems although Corel have fixed most issues.

Re: Inserting clips not moving others along
After many years and versions of Videostudio moving clips to the left when added - and right when you wanted to insert an extra clips Corel decided to *"improve"* Videostudio and introduce gaps and no snapping in VS2019 - as a design feature - problem after problem
What solved the problem for me was when I applied the Hotfix supplied in this topic -
viewtopic.php?f=88&t=66217
If you have not already done so try applying that and see if it works for you

Thanks for your reply, the settings already say auto transition off. I wish they would shift left!lata wrote: Hi

Thanks, I'll see if that works. Might just go back to 2018!BJC wrote:After many years and versions of Videostudio moving clips to the left when added - and right when you wanted to insert an extra clips Corel decided to *"improve"* Videostudio and introduce gaps and no snapping in VS2019 - as a design feature - problem after problem
