Installation Problem

Post by firigd »

Hi,

After support hasn't been able to help me, I'm turning to the community

I can't install the program. Actually the setup didn't finish the first time, and now when ever I try to run the setup, it tells me "Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." I can see the setup bar filling up in the back, but it never finishes. I can't install or uninstall it. It's not in my programs panel, but there are traces all around the system, like files and shortcuts.

Help pls :)

Having the same problem over a month firigd. It is so aggravating.

My first install worked fine, but I had to reinstall and now it won't. I was having the same problem with PSP Ult. 2020, but the cleanup tool fixed that quickly. We need a cleanup tool for PhotoMirage as well apparently.

Some acknowledgements-
- Windows is up to date
- Original install had no issues
- Deleted all temp files
- Disabled antivirus
- Restarted computer
- Program is not listed in installed programs for settings or control panel
- I am very tech-savvy

Will be waiting to see what kind of reply we get as I can't use my software at this time either.

Thanks.

I tried everything told by support. I finally fixed it just now by deleting any entries in the registry that contain "photomirage".

This is a dangerous process if you delete certain entries, but I can confirm it worked for me. Do at your own risk (Also, please set a restore point and/or backup before in case you make a mistake)

1. Type "regedit" in the search bar and enter (May have to click yes on prompt)
2. Click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
2. Press Ctrl+F
3. Input "photomirage" then enter
4. Delete each entry with photomirage in the name (Delete key is fastest then enter)
5. Press Fn+F3 to go to look for next entry
6. Once finished, try running the install as administrator again.
7. If it doesn't work restart computer and try again.
8. If it still doesn't work trying doing steps 1-6 again, but change step 2 to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" instead.

This process took me about an hour to complete. Try this if all else fails. Good luck!

Have you managed to get this working - tried everything (and I'm also a very experienced IT Pro) and still comes back saying "your system has not been modified"...

Just WHAT are Corel doing with their installers - pretty much all of my Corel software have suddenly been coming up complaining that they are invalid installations or have been unexpectedly changed - then the uninstall does not work and a reinstall fails every time. Most other vendors allow a reinstall to reinstall over an existing installation, or the repair to do this properly, and not get stuck in this mess. For PSP and VS at least there were the cleanup tools - but not I'm unable to install PhotoMirage Express and it is in the same stuck state ---- but with NO cleanup tool available!

How can we escalate this a Corel so that they at least provide a cleanup tool for PhotoMirage.

Have spoken with Corel support, and not been able to resolve it. Only suggestions were to install in a completely new user (admin) account and also try in Safe Mode - exactly the same error in both cases. Has now gone very quiet!

We really need to have a Cleanup Tool (or script) for PhotoMirage --- and Corel need to make their installers much much more robust and reliable.

This happened to me when the path to the folder for storing temporary files of the installed program has a too long name and to solve this problem it is enough to specify a shorter path for such a folder.

To do this, right-click on the My Computer icon. In the menu that appears, select the Properties command, then select the Advanced tab, click the Environment Variables button and change the values of the TEMP and TMP variables. To do this, click the Change button and enter a shorter path (for example: C: \ Temp and C: \ Tmp).

After that, you can delete the folders the path to which was registered before the changes and quietly install the programs using new folders for temporary storage.
It helped me with installing the program.
