Pop up's

Post by agrafton »

Having trouble stopping the pop ups for the latest version of PSP2020 when I already have it.
I have went under help and removed the items according to Message preferences, also did the same for Windows 10

Thank you agrafton

You might try deleting C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\CUH.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

If you installed both bit versions of PSP, then you need to do the same in both Program Folders.
e.g. I tagged .old onto the folder in Program Files/Corel and Program Files (x86)/Corel

Read the posts in this thread:

You have to both use your firewall to stop PSP accessing the internet and delete or rename ALL CUH folders that might be on your computer. All Corel products and versions install CUH (Corel Update Helper) folders. So do a search of your computer to find those folders - they can be located in several different places. Doing this has apparently helped several people who have replied in that thread.

And, of course, also stopping the messages in PSP as well as disabling automatically checking for updates doesn't hurt.

And then, the simplest method yet - When using PSP, unplug the internet cable :D or turn off WiFi.

Maybe simple, but much more inconvenient in the long run. Doesn't take much time to do as I suggested and then you're finished. On the other hand, your suggestion would mean no email or social media or internet notifications whenever you happen to have PSP running. And I often have it running all day even if I'm not using it all day. :-)

Granted, it's not the best method in the long run but, it is the quickest & simplest :)

FWIW I only ever turn on the internet when I need it. Never have any popup issues. It's not just Corel that will continually nag you.
