Should I Upgrade to PSP2020?

Post by Nature_Passion »

Just received a new Cyber Monday price message for Ultimate which is great and includes 5 extras until Dec 5..so am very tempted to make the plunge right now.
Have been procrastinating for a few reasons...First reason was from some of the comments made below I got the impression that it would take extra time (that I do not have) to install Ultimate and it sounded like I might lose some features that i really like from 2019 ...I am not having problems using the crop feature in 2019 so not worried about that....
Also I have been operating with W7 Pro and am planning on updating to 10 in Dec or Jan....am wondering if it would be best to install the 2020 PSP after the W 10 is operating fully or do it now with 7 and have it ready to go

Thanks for any suggestions!

When you install a new version of PSP, it does not overwrite a previous version. Some of us here have multiple versions of PSP and all of them operate well and independently of each other. So there is no fear that you would lose anything that you like from a previous version since you would still have that version unless you manually uninstalled it for space reasons. In any case, I am not sure that PSP 2020 has lost any features that PSP 2019 had.

As for delaying installation until you upgrade to Win 10, that is really up to you. But many of us here upgraded to Win 10 with no effects on the version of PSP we had at that time. In any case, if -- as you should -- you have kept the PSP setup/installation files on a separate drive, you could always reinstall after the Win 10 update if by chance you did have a problem with PSP...

And, of course, one of the more important things to consider when upgrading is whether or not the new version has any new features that you think you might like to use that don't exist in the version you are presently using. :-)

Isn't there a Refine Sellection that was added to PSP? Whatever they added to Selection seems pretty good.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
