Star trial production: how to load and merge?

Post by metrodream »

I have 600 photos, resized already. I need to open/arrange them all in one project as layers. I need to set them to "Lighten" and flatten them down.

Sounds easy, but I do not find how I can open 600 photos in layers easily. Furthermore the next problem is how to mark all of them like for example with "Strg"+"A". It doesn't work. And to Mark 600 pictures with "Strg"+ a mouseclick on every single picture - no thank you.

There must be an easy way but as much as I looked around I can't find a solution.

Any help Is appreciated

Hi
and welcome to the forums......

Have you tried using a free piece of software called StarStaX
https://www.markus-enzweiler.de/software/software.html

If you need to lighten each image then I guess PSP batch process would do that.
I don’t understand the "Strg"+A” are you needing to add that to each image ( mark each image) or simply re-name each image

However if you can find a way to blend the 600 images to create a single star trial then I would have a go, but StarStax will take some beating. I’m sure the guys here will have better ideas.

so sorry, I didn't want to write "Strg"+"A" but Instead "CTRL"+"A" - To mark all layers in one step. Couldn't find a solution for this very problem.

Anyway I already downloaded starstax and it works just perfectly fine for stacking together a huge amount of files to get the star trails done.

Thank you very much, so the problem is solved, not with paint shop Pro but it is solved :-)

Just so you know how to do it. There isn't a CTRL + A (Select All) for layers. But you can SHIFT select layers. So, select the bottom layer then scroll to the top and SHIFT + CLICK on the top layer to select all of the layers in between.

If you were just loading 600 images, changing the blend mode to lighten, I would do this with a script.

Yes, you can just drag all of the images into the layer palette from explorer and have it open all of the images as layers into your current image. And you can then just select all of them to change the blend mode and finally flatten the whole image. But depending on the size of your images and the resources of your computer it's probably not the fastest thing around to do that. My script would just open each image in a folder as a new layer, change the blend mode and merge down 600 times. Still slow, but probably a lot faster in the long run as it uses less memory to do all of the work.

Irrelevant now that you are using a software dedicated to this requirement. :D
