Best hardware and settings for PSP2020 and large images

Post by mmreed »

Hello,

I use psp 2020 to create 8ft x 8ft true size images at 300dpi. As you can imagine, these files are HUGE. My main issue is that it is almost impossible to work with these in psp as each action lags and takes minutes to simply complete something like even a selection area.

My machine is an i7 with 32gb ram and a 8gb gpu. Even with nothing else running, it is a slug trying to work with images this size. Photoshop seems to handle these much better and not as laggy - but I hate photo shop.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve performance?

PaintShop Pro is not made for such huge images ("not made" I mean "not optimized").
Your image is 28800 x 28800 pixels.
Open your TaskManager and read the memory used by PSP. It will be between 3 and 4 Gigas.
Duplicate a layer (or create a new one) and the Memory occupation will raise 8 Go and CPU occupation will raise too during working with a tool.
