When I try and render a video (share, creating an MP4) my computer simply shuts down.
Sometimes when I restart the computer, it will turn off again before it completely reboots. Then the third reboot it will successfully start.
I have done a clean boot earlier today so there are no extra programs processing when I start the computer. I have removed all ancillary products from the computer (web cam, microphone, USB connector)
The videos I am working on are just over 10 minutes long, and the resulting file is estimated to be just over a gigabyte when complete.
I have had success by cutting a video into little pieces (under 400 MB, less than 4 minutes long) and rendering each piece into an MP4 video, but still sometimes the computer shuts down. Then I take those smaller MP4 videos and add them into a new video project and then render them into a full video.
Help!

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Hi Travis
Can you give more details regarding your video file.
If it is using a non standard codec it may affect the function of the program.
Although I cannot understand why that would cause the PC to close, your profile shows using Windows XP Home, I am sure that is a typo, should read Windows 10, I think.
Right click a clip on the library or timeline and choose properties, what are they? Alt + Print Screen to copy to clipboard, create a Jpeg to attach to your post.
There are some MP4 samples within the media library, if you use those do you have the same problems
Using your files does the program crash every time you render or is it intermittent.
You say the files are 10 minutes long, is that the total length of the project, if its individual video files, how many do you have.
Have you tried re-installing CVS X10, just in case there is a problem there, even so the computer crashing is a worry

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Hello Lata,
Thanks for the reply.
I am using Windows Home 10. The only option to choose when completing my profile was Windows Home, there was no option to choose a version.
I have attached a screenshot of the properties of one of the media clips I am using in my latest project as a jpg file as you requested.
I do not know what you mean by a non standard codec. I am running the operating system and Video Studio as they were installed, I have not downloaded or installed any codecs that I am aware of.
I created a video using only media clips from the library on one time line. The video was 8:04 long, the estimated output file was 900 MB and it processed properly.
I created a second video using only media clips from the library on two timelines, fade to black transitions between half the clips, and five titles. The video length was 6:48 long and the estimated output file size was 745 MB. My computer turned off at about 70%.
The length of the videos I have been working on are vary between 4:00 minutes and 11:30 minutes total length. In some videos the clips are downloaded from YouTube and vary from 30 seconds to 4:00 minutes. Other videos are made of video I have created myself using a Logitech Pro 900 webcam and these videos are mp4 video files and vary in length anywhere from several seconds to 5:00 minutes.
If I do re-instal CVS X10 should I uninstall first or reload the program on top of itself?
Thanks for the reply.

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Hi
Thanks for the video details, they look pretty standard for MP4 using the H264
The Duration however shows as approx. 1 hour
The data rate is very low at 2820kbps I suspect downloaded from YT
Even so I would not expect the video to cause any problems and as you tested using the programs samples then that would rule out your files.
Do you have any other failures of the computer using other programs or is it just when using Video Studio?
Try re-installing the program, yes you have to remove the program before installing
Use the Cleanup tool to remove the program download from this post…
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Now rename the folder 20.0 to "20.0_Old"
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\20.0
Install X10

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Thank you for the reply.
You are correct the original video clip is an hour long. I did "trim" it down as I only needed three clips from the video that are between one and three minutes long. I have noticed that the clip is still there in its entirety when I do this (You can scroll the edge of the video clip to increase its length up to its full length).
If I am using three separate small clips (one minute to three minutes) from the same 1 hour video is the program burdened with actually trying to render three one hour media clips? I can see how this might overwhelm my computer. My graphics card is modern, but my processor and motherboard are about five years old.
Is there a method I am not using that allows me to actually trim the clip to what I need instead of just shortening as it seems that is what I am doing instead of actually trimming it down.
Yes, that specific clip was downloaded from YouTube.
My computer does sometimes shut down in the exact same manner when I am gaming on Battlefield, 4, 5 and 1. After rebooting my computer the gaming program usually runs fine and the shut down is intermittent. With VS X10 the shutdown is regular and expected for any clip over 2 minutes long or larger than several hundred MB's. These are the only two instances that cause my computer to shutdown.
Thank you for the install information, I will follow that procedure when I have the time, which may not be until Monday. After I reinstall I will render some videos and reply with the results.
Thank you.

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Hi
I have been working with CVS X10 for quite a while this year and have never had a crash on all the projects I have worked on.
Editing with Video Studio uses what we could call virtual clips, the clips on the timelines being linked to the actual files on the hard drive
So editing those does not affect the original files, non destructive editing.
When we cut a section from the original we are simply creating another virtual clip, which is what you are doing when using the 4 minute shorter clips.
This process should not burden the pc in any way, even so if you have applied a lot of edits, filters etc then rendering will simply slow down, it will take longer to complete.
Rendering creates new files and does not affect the original files.
As you have experienced other pc crashes I would suspect it is your computers environment that has issues, and I may be getting out of my depth here.
Page Filing comes to mind, have you change that from the default settings to help enhance your gaming experience, if so I would try allowing windows to manage the page file size.
Other than that I am at a loss as to what to suggest next, check graphics drivers are current etc.

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
Hello,
I have performed a "Clean Boot" on my computer and stopped all unnecessary processes from running when my computer boots up, this includes page filing. Since I have done this (Monday last week) I have not experienced my computer turning off while gaming and my computer starts up much faster.
This is also out of my depth and I am only following advice from videos and forums online posted by people who experience similar problems of their computer shutting down for no apparent reason.

Re: PC Turns Off When Rendering A Video in Video Studio 10
I am getting a serious crash (no pun intended) course in researching computer problems.
Apparently I am experiencing BEX64 cnext.exe error.
Not quite sure what to do about it, the search continues!

Hi
I also use ADM and can find the C:\Program Files\AMD\CNext\CNext folder, but I do not have the files cnext.exe
I do have the ADM Radeon Settings app installed which looks after any updates.
I also found this blog regarding permissions
https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/cnext ... ve.404403/
Not sure if that helps?
