Left clicking an image (or any file in Windows Explorer) will NOT open the image or file unless you have selected the option to open files with a single click. The default action for opening files with Windows Explorer with clicks is to double-click the file.

You're correct. I've set up my files to open on single click since Windows 3.1 (before 3.11), so I forgot.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

So, just out of curiosity, how do you select individual files that are not contiguous in Windows Explorer using the CTRL-Click option without having the first file you click on open up, when all you want to do is select this bunch of non-contiguous files and then do Copy? Or, for that matter, select a few contiguous files out of a long list of them using the SHIFT KEY? Do you hold the CTRL or SHIFT key down first before selecting the first file? Does that work?

I believe (go ahead and correct me) that you are referring to how one selects multiple items in Windows. I have done this literally for decades without problems. Simply press the ctrl (or shift) key down before you select the file. That not only works, it is the only way I have found that does work.

My mistake, 1000 apologies, of course there are only thumbnails in the Pictures folder, but I have extra large icons(that is my excuse anyway)
When LeviFiction said” That could mean there are more steps than you're remembering” he was very diplomatic but hit the nail on the head. To say my memory is not reliable is an understatement.
What has changed is that when I capture an image with Snip and Sketch and select copy then open PSP, there is no longer the option to r/c the workspace and select past as new image but paste as new image is available under the Edit menu as ehume said.
Thank you LeviFiction for the script, I will put it to use later.
Thank you all for your time and patience
Ken
