Interested and very keen to know...anyone out there know more about PC's specs..
My PC details below. Currently running 2018 VS. Not the smoothest of experiances when editing lets say, render on or off seems to make no difference. The final render ( takes a while ) but is fine once done.
I am shortly wanting to edit 4K footage.
I cannot purchase a new PC, but i can upgrade a little.
Any ideas on how best things to add to upgrade. more ram? a better graphics card?
VS version 2019 worth buying or keep with 2018

oh..and just add....it has a SSD drive....VS is loaded onto this...BUT its not that big 2GB ( it has a hardrive of 2TB ) ..WINDOWS and VS are loaded onto SSD drive.
I do have to move video files ( after i edit them and finished with them off the SSD drive and delete or onto hardrive.....aware of 're-linking' problem by moving them..but as I say, only once finished with them. )
Would SSD effect anything on VS?
Graphics card the answer? more ram?

An SSD of only 2gb??? is that a typo, or for real? Even small SSD's for laptops run to 128gb.
With the size of hdd you report and the RAM config, a better small cost upgrade would be to get a really big - say 500gb - SSD.
Your 'not the best of edit experiences' may simply be a VS setting not made. For a smooth edit experience using HD or greater (eg, 4K) files, configure the app for smart proxy (Settings/preferences/performance tab, enable smart proxy); read up on the tutorial.

Why not put your videos on the 2TB hard drive instead of shuffling them around?
And what is the size of your C: drive???????
As David said, proxies in 4K editing is your friend. You will be working with a lower resolution video, but when it comes time to Share, the real 4K files will be used.
This is great especially if you are a multi-track user.
