Should I upgrade to VS 2019 for current price of £17..
Should I take up the offer of VS 2019 - down to upgrade price of £16.99
Now - thats a decent price....I currently have 2018.
But -the 2019 trial i downloaded a while back wasnt great - bugs perhaps - and i see on this forum a few issues and people are preferring older versions.
I do think a version i had of VS..called Ulead back then 10yrs back just seemed more stable and ended up doing more videos because of it.
I plan to work with 4k footage btw ( should that make a difference ) - so ..what do you think or recommend. I will still be using the Paintshop v2018.

If you read all the negative posts regarding VS2019 where many users are reverting back to VS2018 or earlier versions, then you would not purchase VS2019 no matter what price was offered, maybe wait for version VS2020 which, if it follows previous years should be available about March 2020,we can only hope that the new version has had a complete overhaul

I purchased the VS 2019 recently and was very disappointed. The playback video is jittery and jumpy and there is a long lag when attempting to scrub through your video. I found it totally un usable. I tried reloading the software but it has the same problem. I have since gone back to SV 2018 which edits and plays back perfectly. Don't bother with SV 2019 as it does not work.

Hi
Is it possible that Smart Proxy is enabled when using 2018 and not enabled with 2019

Let say, this totally depends of your needs. The stability problems what others has been reported, I have never seen. Okay, one crash I could generate, and I have not success to make support team to understand the issue: What is the differences between running VideoStudio with admin credentials and running it without admin credentials. While doing some troubleshooting, I have a hint that this could be a problem behind many of the crashes reported on this forum.garjobo123 wrote:Should I take up the offer of VS 2019 - down to upgrade price of £16.99

But that brings other important thing for you: user forums, even they are so many times helpful, these still not the official support forum. Corel have its own support site: Corel Support. So if you do have issues with their product, please make the official report for them. And do not expect it will be fixed from here.

I have been able to create some projects with it-albeit too many spontaneous crashes. So, for such a cheap price I would buy it. The work flow is much better than PD which has a lot of superfluous stuff. However, it is not as crash prone as VS.

If VS2018 does all that you want then there is no obvious reason to upgrade as VS2019 offers no significant performance improvement. As with any VS upgrade, sometimes you gain features and sometimes you lose features so check the VS2019 feature set and see if you need any of them.garjobo123 wrote:Should I take up the offer of VS 2019 - down to upgrade price of £16.99
VS has handled 4K clips for several versions now.garjobo123 wrote:I plan to work with 4k footage btw ( should that make a difference )
Suggest searching this forum and reading users' feedback on VS2019 issues.garjobo123 wrote:so ..what do you think or recommend.

Re: Should I upgrade to VS 2019 for current price of £17..
It depends.
Every single new release, of VS, has presented their own quirks and annoying crashes. For me, Vs 2019 has the same crashes as 2018, so I'm okay with it. For others, as mentioned, there's more issues. I fully removed 2018, before installing 2019 as I didn't want them to clash.
For £17, I'd say yes. You can always just return to the previous version. I wish I'd paid £17 for it.
Never wait for the next release as you'll be waiting forever. 2020 WILL have issues, just as 2019 has issues. Another option would be to drop VS and move to Davinci Resolve (Free). On my 9700k SSD based machine, after the proxy finishes, 4k edits without any issues.

If you are getting it for £16.99 then buy it. I bought the Upgrade Ultimate for £45 about a month ago - (just before Christmas 2019). I could have bought for £39.99 but it was for Professional version (VS 2019 Professional) with Paintshop Pro 2020. My previous experience was with Adobe Premiere Elements that is also a perpetual license like most Corel Products.garjobo123 wrote:Should I take up the offer of VS 2019 - down to upgrade price of £16.99
One thiong I haven't found in any of the products is to slice the video the EASY WAY so that a 1 hour video can be divided into 4 videos of 15 minutes each. It seems there is no easy way of doing it. I will post a separate question about this to see if any of you have a better way of doing this.
