Video Not Rendering

Post by Mattyj »

I have Video Studio 2018. I finished editing a video and went to the Share tab. I tried rendering my video in MPEG-4 format. It would go through the rendering process but when it was done there would be no MPEG-4 file, or any type of file. I upgraded to 2019 thinking maybe that would help but I'm getting the same results.

I am on Windows 7 with 16GB of RAM and 1 TB hard drive on a 62-bit system.

Normally, when rendering is complete, you get a message saying "Rendering completed successfully" or words to that effect; and the new file icon normally appears in the VS library window. I assume you checked there and found nothing. But where is your VS set to download actual files? Have you, for instance, checked your working folder? Normally it is at C:\Users\[Your Name]\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\22.0\...

I am not getting the "Rendering Completed Successfully" message. When rendering I can see that it makes a MPEG-4 file but when the rendering finishes, nothing is there.

I did look in the usual default download location besides where I directed Corel to save the file. Nothing there. I have updated my RAM and hard drive since my last successful rendering. When my 2018 version did not work I upgraded to 2019, but that did not solve the problem.

I would try to render a small project (maybe only a minute or so) to see if that renders correctly. That way you don't waste to much time when debugging.
From your post, it seems your have successfully rendered before. So something has changed in your system.

Since my last successful rendering I have upgraded my RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB and upgraded my hard drive to a 1 TB solid state drive.

I did as you suggested and saved my current project under a different name and pared it down from 4:10 to 3:53 and removed all overlays, subtitles and sound tracks. The pared down version successfully rendered. I think what I'll do next is remove various tracks one at a time until I find the culprit. Do you have any other suggestions?

Your process for debugging is what I would also do. You could also try adding features to a working project until it fails

I've discovered that when I delete my overlay track and leave all else (main track, titles and sound tracks) it renders successfully. I think one or more of the video clips on my overlay track is corrupted. I will rebuild that track after work. Thanks so much for your input canuck. I'll let you know how my next step goes.
