Hello,
I am not an experienced/professional user of PSP, but I came up with this doubt, which I couldn't clear online:
I have an SVG file created with a sepparate software, and would like to import this to PSP. Since SVG creates vectors, I am wondering why does it turn the opened file into a Raster layer once I open it.
Is it possible to import it as a vector layer?
Many thanks, in advance.
Luís

Re: Noob layer question around SVG file
I think -- I stand to be corrected -- that you need to open an SVG file with an SVG app, export it as a bitmapped file, and open that in PSP, which is mainly a bitmap editor. My experience with SVG files in PSP is that PSP does not open them with their full colors.
I have always used Inkscape for SVG files. Inkscape is an open code app free on the internet that is being actively maintained. I started in the low .40's. It is now up to the mid-.90's. It outputs PNG files in whatever size you specify. You then can pick it up in PSP, Adobe PS, PSE, etc. Affinity and Adobe Illustrator can open SVG's natively, but if you have not paid for an app that can handle SVG files, Inkscape is free.

Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: Noob layer question around SVG file
No, it's not possible to import SVG as a vector inside PSP. PSP only supports vector importing from EMF and WMF formats. These are really old vector formats that very few people even use anymore.
PSP's own vectors are minimal at best. So it's not a complete vector editor or designer. What's more, PSP cannot replicate a lot of the effects built into SVG. In order to maintain the look of the SVG file you're bringing in it'll use its own SVG renderer and convert it to a raster to maintain the complete look.
If PSP were to ever offer SVG importing it could probably only really support basic paths and colors.

Re: Noob layer question around SVG file
Thanks for clearing this out.
This way I avoid pointless minutes trying to import the SVG as a vector layer, and I can still work on it as a raster layer.
Best,
Luís
