Where are the FastFlick (2018) Templates

Post by john4647 »

I am sure this has been asked before but I can't find it.
When using Fastflick (2018) I seem to have a limited number of templates (32 of these) which is what I think it came with when I installed it.
Over the last couple of years I purchased extra templates which appear in VS2018 under the instant project tab. Is there a way to allow Fastflick to access these?
I suppose what I am asking is where are the Fastflick templates and where are the VS2018 Instant Project templates and are they VSP files?
John.

Instant Project templates are located in C:\ProgramFiles\Corel\CorelVideoStudio2018\EditingStyle\InstantProjects and appears to be where both FastFick and Instant Project templates are located, but as asik1 has stated, Trevor is the best person to sort it out for you

Hi
Not sure i will put you right or confuse you........

As far as I know there are 15 Fast Flick templates available, the FF Gallery showing All Themes
From the drop down menu we have several categories , Instant Projects and General, and maybe Custom,
If you have other categories these have been added by installing / saving FF templates other than those installed by the program
You indicate having 32 which would indicate you have installed additional pack of templates.

Now it is difficult to say where the actual templates are on our hard drives, Corel are very untidy in managing our files
Installing the program or purchased templates will install templates here afaik:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2018\EditingStyle\InstantProject
Installing additional free templates from the Get More are here:-
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate

Templates are normally saved to their own folders making it easy to manage, but some are fragmented over the Samples and Editing Styles folders
As I said Corel can be a little untidy.

Video Studio project File
AKA VSP, there are a few types all use .VSP as their extension.
From Video Studio…………
The Instant Projects Library contains IP templates several categories from Split Screen to Complete, navigation these top categories always seem slow to refresh, Custom, Instant Projects and General refresh much quicker, no issues using 2019.

The InstantProjects category are actually copies of the Fast Flick templates (10) but from this library can only be used as Instant Projects, just to confuse us.
Open Fast Flick and we will see the same templates.

But from the Instant Projects library it is difficult to identify the different types, all are Instant Projects.
And where are they on the hard drive? first drag any template to the timeline, then right click one of the clips for “Locate on Computer” you could locate the parent folder

Please note, the C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate folder will only exist after saving / installing your first template, Generally downloaded from Get More free packs, so if you do not see the VSPTemplate folder, don’t worry.

Clear as mud
Yes Instant Projects and Fastflick projects all use a VSP file.

In addition to the free / purchased templates we can create our own using Video Studio, we can save the template to any location on our hard drive.

Thanks for the replies.

Trevor, the files (directories) are indeed where you say they should be.

What I really needed to ask is "can FastFlick access the downloaded project files, such as 'COOL CIRCLES' that I can see in VS2018.

I tried copying the 'COOL CIRCLES' directory from C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate folder to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2018\EditingStyle\InstantProject but Fastflick can't recognise it.

I find Fastflick so much easier to use than the Instant projects in VS2018 and much quicker.

Hi John

Think I have an answer to your problem - works for me anyrate

Open up the instant projects library in Videostudio -- drag the template you want to transfer down into the timeline and allow it to populate the tracks

Now go to "File >> Export as template >> Fastflick Template"

you are then asked if you want to save the project (confused me a little) - say YES - after a couple of seconds another window pops up - labelled "Export project as Template" - here you can name the template and choose which frame you want for the thumbnail - and what category you think it should be in

when you click 'OK' at the bottom of that window it will now (confusingly) put a .vsp thumbnail in the library category you just chose - - BUT more importantly when you now open Fastflick you will find that template at the bottom of the 'All Themes' library in there and also if you use the drop down at the top of that library in the category you chose

looks like you need to do one at a time though I'm afraid

Hi John
I do not have Cool Circles, I can only assume it is one you have purchased and possibly an Instant Projects file
Although they are VSP’s they react differently to a FF VSP, and that’s where it can be confusing.

You should be able to see Cool Circles within the IP library
Start a new project then drag Cool to the timelines
If the arrangement is suitable to create an FF and I doubt that then we can File – Export as Template Fast Flick saves to the VSPTemplate folder

First there is a FastFlick Templates Manager, right click any clip for options, Not very intuitive, frustration to use, you may need a wall to bang your head against.

There are details on how to use in the help / user guides.
Once done correctly will show when using FF

However if the template is not suitable then it may freeze FF, in which case delete the new CoolCircles template from VSPTemplate and start again.
Do not delete the original Cool Circles folder only the new template you created.

If you can Zip the Cool Circles folder you can upload to a sharing site, we can test that for you.

Sorry BJC, did not see your reply.

I am too old to have Eureka moments. But sometimes....

Thanks everybody, I followed the instructions as described by BJC and Trevor.

I now have COOL CIRCLES in my Fastflick directory.

Now to proceed with selected others.

Thanks again.
