I have been an annual user and purchaser since the Ulead days; however, I will not purchase VS2019 Ultimate. Too buggy... So I will stick with VS2018 Ultimate until something better comes along...

Perhaps it is time to consider, life/products without Corel... Maybe Ulead will start up again...

I just bought and installed the 2019 version. First project I loaded and tried to play hangs and crashes the program each and every time. 16,99 down the drain. It costs nothing, but then again you get nothing. Never again...

I have wanted to upgrade to VS2019 Ultimate because of some of the new features and have been following this board to see if the many issues have been addressed yet. And at
$19.95 USD I was tempted to upgrade. Looks like there are still problems. Very disappointing! I currently have VS2018 Ultimate and it works albeit with a couple workarounds I have discovered. It doesn't make sense to upgrade for bells and whistles when the editing software is so much trouble. Till Corel fixes the bugs I'll stay with 2018.

also got a very cheap offer $19.99 for Ultimate 19 upgrade.... haven't installed and after reading here, may seek credit.

I'm wondering for those who are experiencing the constant crashing if they have legacy versions of Video Studio installed. I have a few legacy versions on my computer and always have.... never delete the older versions until I've fully migrated to new version and even then, I find the need to revert back to an older version at times.

Corel Support has indicated that if you have legacy versions on the PC and install VS 19 that VS19 will crash... I tried to find out if this was something "new" and it was hard to get a straight answer. i am sure that others keep legacy versions on their computers too?? They say the windows operating system can only handle 1 version. Does this even make sense?? I know you can't have them both open at the same time, but why wouldn't they be able to co-exist? they always have --- although my older programs crashed often too, but I thought it was just something glitchy in the software.

Sounds like from what I am reading on this board that VS19 crashes more than other versions of VS??

haven't really been using VS anymore, but the cheap price was an attractive incentive.

thoughts??

Ilene, what's cheap is cheap.
Up to VS19 indeed all versions ccould live together on ones disk, but there are reports that VS19 bug this happiness. On the other hand not all users effected so it's a hit or miss.
If you are already shifted to other NLE than you better pass cheap offers and keep VS's you already have.

Ha. Thanks.
Any danger in installing (along side legacy versions) and if having crashing issues just un-install?? There is no perfect editing tool and VS does have some merits at times!!
Are people experiencing crashing on opening and just can’t do anything? Or random crashes while editing or rendering??

I’ve skipped a lot of updates, never getting passed a terrible audio issue I was having w X10.

Lmk... For $20 I’d be willing to install so long as it didn’t disable X10(in case I need to go back to it?)

The sound blip issue remains unresolved and is unlikely to be resolved in VS2020 as obviously Corel's priorities lie elsewhere. Eliminated of sound blips requires use of a program like Audacity.

What NLE did you switch to?

Hi
I do not know of any reports on the forum regarding audio blips other than the last time you posted on that subject.

Your audio blips were specific to Video Studio, only experienced when rendering and would not be fixed using Audacity so maybe “tletter” is referring to a different audio issue.

Corel did provide a HotFix for us to try / test which did help in reducing most of the blips.
However you refused to use the Hotfix as you were in the middle of your project and did not wish to cause any further issues, I can understand your concerns there, I don’t think you ever used the HotFix
That could have been back in 2018 or maybe as long ago as X10, I know it is a long time ago.

So do the blips you experienced still exist? I would have to say no until some one provides a project showing those blips.

"Iata", Audacity is a sound editor that is quite capable of removing audio blips that VS creates whilst rendering. The issue is that removing the audio blips takes a couple of extra steps taking additional time.

Try creating some long projects that have audio on the video, voice, and music tracks and then listen carefully for audio blips on the rendered output. The audio blips appear unpredictably for no obvious reason so your mileage may vary.

Would appreciate someone explaining how to turn off these annoying pop-up notifications from Corel about upgrade "deals"
for VS19. OS is Win10.

Thanks.

Information from Corel Support

As I understand that popup messages can be annoying to some customers, others appreciate the product information.
There are a few ways a customer can control the marketing messages

1. Login to your Corel.com account and you can manage your privacy settings by clicking on Manage Your Communication Preferences.

Customer should uncheck everything listed and ONLY check the last one "Unsubscribe from Corel (I do not want to receive any communication from Corel) if they do not want to receive any communication from Corel.
Manage your Comunication Preferences.png
2. For each product installed or re-installed on the computer, the customer can set their preferences to "Do Not Show Me Tray Messages for this application"

There are multiple knowledge base articles on this subject, depending on the product. search for "How to change preferences" or even "Frequency of the popup messages", articles will appear.

They can select the one appropriate to their version. Below are some of them and more will be released for our current versions even though they are the same from version to version with the exception of CorelDRAW.

CDGS 2017: How To Turn Off Or Reduce The Frequency Of The Popup Messages

How to change your preferences for the Corel Update Helper

3. If all of the above fails, the customer can reach out to us for future investigation. From my experience, once the above steps have been done, the customer should not be seeing other popups.

The following is an example of an audio blip that occurred today on a 5 min long project. You can see that the audio clip is supposed to fade out but VS introduces an audio blip that has to be removed in a sound editor and then the project rendered again with the new audio track. What a waste of time!
