Worth a try…
And should it improve things try without Smart Proxy.
Hardware Acceleration does not make any difference either on or off.

Interestingly I tried Task Manager as per tletter's suggestion. The memory usage remains constant at circa 300mb, the CPU usage remains constant at 10.3% but the GPU usage switches from 32.7% to zero. It does this every 2 or 3 seconds.

Now I am definitely out of my depth.

Hi John
And if you play the video outside Video Studio using your media players does Task Manager look the same.

Upps for video studio---forgot that we are playing in clip mode so hardware acceleration would have no effect, as far as I know would only apply to project playback.

Hello Trevor,

Playing the MTS clip through VLC, the GPU figure remains fairly static, fluctuating only slightly between 57%-61%. Memory usage is much less at 70mb, as is to be expected and the CPU figure is lower at 0.2%

Having said that it also plays normally in VLC, no stuttering and at normal speed.

Hi John
This wont help as we know there is a problem but when comparing the Temp 1 mp4 to 00017.mts the recording is 12 seconds longer
If you place the MTS in the top track and the Temp 1 on the overlay track, switch to Sound Mixer to view the wave form, I was able to sync the beginning of the two clips, then viewing at the end of 00017.MTS the Test1 was a long way behind, 12 sec
I can also see a lot of flat spots on the wave form, interestingly starts after about 15 seconds play.

are your graphics drivers upto date?

Helo Trevor,

I went to the GeForce (Nvidia) website and the programme told me that my Driver was up to date.

There was a later driver available which would cure problems with lasers in som Jedi Star Wars game or other.

With nothing to lose, I downloaded and installed the later driver (took about 20 minutes) and after a reboot I ran VSP again to check my MTS files.

Amazingly the problem is FIXED !!

I bow, Sir, to your knowledge.

Thanks to all who responded.
