Setup Menu - set subtitles/lang/music

Post by AuThor »

Is it possible to create menu with buttons which will allow setting wanted subtitle, language and bkg music? I mean not simple link which will immediately open another menu or start playing, but kind of preset which will remember set options and use them when you start play. Just like it is in movie DVDs! If it is not possible with DWS2, what kind of software i should look for?
Thanks in advance

Of course it is possible.

To try it out, I suggest you start with your main menu as a text menu headed
Play
Chapters
Languages
or whatever.
Languages would take you to another text menu
Subtitles:
- None
- English
- Français
- Deutsch

Dialogue:
- English
- Français
- Deutsch

- Return to Main Menu
or whatever, set out, as you want

All you have to do is to set each playlist so that it selects ST1, Languages Menu; ST2... and the last one selects Main Menu.

Each item is an object that is pullable to the playlist as described in the manual p. 84 ff.

Thanks, you saved me lots of time. Its work fine, but one thing left which I desperately need.
So, I am working on one (amateur) documentary movie, and adding narrator’s voice would be great to have it. It is not problem to mix it using any other software and import it in WS, but I need option to turn on or off (in setup menu) that narrator's voice. So far, i find that i can only switch between original audio track and additional one, but not to have them both at the same time. (Unless they are mixed previously once for ever, without possibility to turn off narrator’s voice).
Best.

A DVD can only play one soundtrack at a time (not a limitation of Workshop). The only way to mix in real-time during playback would be to put the background music on the left, and the narrator on the right, etc.

I think you need one music-only soundtrack and one pre-mixed sountrack. If you have Workshop Express, you only get two soundtacks, but if you have the standard version, you can have a music-only sountrack, a narration only soundtrack, and a mixed soundtrack (up to 8 soundtracks).

YES!!!
That is excellent solution! (one original and one premixed track...so simple:)
Thank you both very much.
