For some time now I have wondered if there is a quick way to adjust clips that have been taken with the camera slightly askew
My solution has been to right click on the clip and select rotate to first turn the clip upside down on the time line
Next double left click on the clip with the mouse to bring up the options panel and select pan and zoom, then customise
This will expose the sliders, including one for rotation -take the rotation slider and rotate 180 degrees to return the clip to right way up (in the custom viewer only)
You can now fine tune the horizon to left or right by a single degree at a time, using the static edit mode and the cursor situated on the starting (left end) of the clip
Be sure to adjust the zoom to retain as much (or as little) of the frame as desired without introducing black margins into the shot at the borders
Now go to the last frame in the clip to check alinement of the horizon and if necessary adjust again to the best "average" over the clip duration
It is not possible to independently change the end clip alinements or zoom using this process - whatever settings used at one end will also be the same at the other
And, should you think to use "on the fly" - you whole clip will rotate 360 degrees as it plays though - a total waste of time unless you are looking for some silly effect!
Without the preliminary turning of the clip upside down on the time line it is not possible to rotate anti-clockwise with the slider, thus limiting adjustments to one direction
And anything other than static edit mode brings un-acceptable spinning into the clip
So - is there an easier way or does everyone use my self -discovered method?
I have salvaged numerous otherwise "bad" clips by the above method but was looking for a quicker way - if one exists!
And my camera technique invariably requires anti-clockwise rotation thus requiring the "upside down" preliminary step when adjustment is required

Re: Adjusting horizon in clips
Thanks Trevor - as always, you know the answers. And I have learned a new skill
I shall have to explore other features of custom motion!
