Does ctrl-p cause PSP to crash?
I have an installation of PSP 2018. I have developed a problem with it. Ctrl-P or Menu > File > Print... causes PSP to crash. I can still print by goin to Menu > File > Print Layout..., dragging my image to the window and printing it. So, have any of you had a similar problem with PSP? Or is this just my setup?
BTW -- I did a shift-start (because I always save my workspaces). After the shift-start the ctrl-p still crashes PSP.

It doesn't on my side.ehume wrote: Ctrl-P or Menu > File > Print... causes PSP to crash.
Does it crash when the printer is not connected?
Suggestion: uninstall the printer and reinstall. It may be a printer driver problem.

Thanks to you all. I'll try a different printer.Jean-Luc wrote:It doesn't on my side.ehume wrote: Ctrl-P or Menu > File > Print... causes PSP to crash.

Edit: Nope. I changed the printer to a Microsoft PDF printer. Very interesting. It crashed in two stages. In the first, the Print setup dialog failed to initialize but -- just once -- it showed a printer dialog. It no longer does this, but it looks for a solution twice, then asks me to close the program twice.

Re: Does ctrl-p cause PSP to crash?
I think the crash will not occur when you print via the Print Layout function.
Could you confirm?

Re: Does ctrl-p cause PSP to crash?
I tried 32-bit PSP. The same ctrl-p closure occurs. I tried 64-bit PSPx9: same failure. I tried 32-bit PSPx9. Success! I circled back to try 64-bit PSPx9 again. Success. Huh? I tried 32-bit and 64-bit PSP 2018 again. Same failure. So I now have to employ the workaround only with PSP 2018.

Re: Does ctrl-p cause PSP to crash?
Interesting: when ctrl-p fails, I get a message saying, "The Print dialog failed to initialize. If this problem persists, contact tech support. You may also try the Print Layout feature as an alternative." Turns out, that is exactly what I was using as a workaround. Seems Corel has seen this problem before. Q: is it worth contacting tech support?

Re: Does ctrl-p cause PSP to crash?
I wish to report a positive experience with Corel Tech Support.
I wrote to Corel Tech Support to request assistance with my ctrl-p problem. Radhika Nijalingappa stuck with me. He made a couple of suggestions that did not work, but escalated in intrusiveness, thus eschewing the big hammer until it was really needed. Finally, he sent me a cleanup tool and a replacement Ultimate file. I ran the cleanup tool, then tried reinstalling PSP. I ran into Error 1303 twice: it said the installer had insufficient privileges to access the directory of c:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (64-bit). I exited the first time and tried running the installation app as an administrator (my account is already an administrator account but sometimes apps need that extra push). It failed again.
I then remembered something from this forum: a restart. I restarted my machine, and then ran the installer normally. Everything worked!
There were just two points he needed to include in the directions:
1. The old customizations (including --- especially including – the C:\ProgramData files, which contain all of our saved brushes, etc.) are wiped out. They should be saved elsewhere for reuse.
2. Restart after using the cleanup file and before running the install file.
Of the apps not reinstalled, they still exist in my Windows X directory. The Perfectly Clear plugin was not present, but running the Perfectly Clear installation app reinstalled it.
So: as bad as we have learned to expect Corel phone support to be, writing to Corel tech support got me somewhere.

Always nice when a support person not only does what we hope and expect, but when somebody gives that person credit for it!
