split photos into sections
hello, is there a way to split a photo into equal parts (for example into 6 parts)? I would like to print each fragment separately. Thanks

You could use the Grid : View>Grid
then set the measurements to the size you need: View>Grid, Guide and Snap Properties.
Then select one section, Promote the Selection to Layer:
Shift+Ctrl+P on the keyboard.
Go back to the full image and do it as many sections as needed.
Very fiddly.
Easier to just print the image and cut it up

Re: split photos into sections
How large, in inches, would you want to print each segment ?

Re: split photos into sections
Thanks for the answers. I did the work about as suggested by Joëlle, but I found it difficult to place the next segments. I divided an image the 6 sections, which I then printed in 10 x 15cm format, to compose a 30 x 45cm poster
Eventually, I discovered that with krita there is a "split-image" function of extraordinary simplicity.
PS: I saw that Photoshop and Gimp have a dedicated function

Well done
With a lot of experimenting we usually get to where we want to be!

Edit: You could try using this script, made by Panda.
Unzip + place in the Scripts-Restricted folder

Re: split photos into sections
I am sure someone has made a script that can do this. It's pretty easy. If not one could be made.

Re: split photos into sections
the script draws a grid, and this would have already helped me; however you have to set 6 times (in my case) the tool crop.

Re: split photos into sections
Here is a relatively easy and accurate way to do what you want if you want equal parts. To make things easier, I have the Grid by Cells script - available in the Scripting sub-forum - which is bound to an icon and under the Grid option in the View menu on the menu bar. I also have a button on me left hand tool bar for Copy, and under it another button for Paste as New Image. This saves drilling down in menus for different commands.
1) Decide how many sections you want to cut your image both vertically and horizontally. For example (and I'll use this as the example throughout), for an image 1200 pixels wide and 1500 pixels high, for 6 equal parts you might want 2 sections across and 3 sections down. So each section will have to be 600 pixels wide and 500 pixels high.
2) Create a grid that is 2 cells across and 3 cells down. In this example the grid sections will then be 600 pixels wide and 500 pixels high. As I said, you can get the Grid by Cells script from the scripting sub-forum to make that easy. Make sure that Snap to Grid is also checked in the View menu.
3) Grab your Selection tool and in the tool options palette set Mode to Replace, set Style to Fixed Size, and the Width to 600 and the Height to 500. Now everything is set up to make your 6 separate images
4) Click with the cursor near the upper left of the image, which will create a selection completely filling that 600x500 cell. Do Copy, then Paste as New Image. Go back to the original image, and click near the upper left of the second cell, which will remove the selection from the first cell and again fill the second cell with your selection. Copy, Paste as New image. Repeat for each cell and you will have your 6 sections fairly quickly.
Hope this helps.

I quickly built a copy of Krita's Image Split command. Here is the script - viewtopic.php?f=104&t=66146

Re: split photos into sections
Well, that should make things even more convenient than the instructions I just posted!LeviFiction wrote:I quickly built a copy of Krita's Image Split command. Here is the script - viewtopic.php?f=104&t=66146
EDIT: Works also in PSP 2019 even though your post says it works up to 2018. It just adds that grey border around the image that the Crop tool has done for the past couple of versions, but that's to be expected as it uses the crop tool. Excellent script! And definitely beyond my extremely limited scripting capabilities to even understand!
