Another AC-3 question

Post by Jollygood »

I have DVD MovieFactory 3 Trial Version.

I am wanting to create a disc of programs recorded from my JVC DRM-10 DVD recorder using Create Video Disc. Programs were originally recorded in VR Mode on a -RW disc and have since been converted to DVD-Video Format onto a -R disc and then saved to my hard drive.

When I click on Add Media, and Import DVD-Video file from my hard drive I get this message:

"Ulead DVD MovieFactory\3.0\Import_DVD\dmf050901-037.MPG] contains Dolby Digital audio tracks. DVD MovieFactory does not support this audio format. Do you still want to insert this video clip?"

From what I can gather on other posts my disc is in AC-3 format and the trial version doesn't have that option, only LPCM and MPEG.

My problem is that neither of those 2 options gives me any sound at all.
No sound when I play it on the same screen where I import the file, and no sound if I finish the disc and then try and play it.

The Project Settings are:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo

I think I have tried all the combinations of "Convert Compliant MPEG files" and alternating between MPEG and LPCM.

I don't care if it plays in AC-3 format or not, just some sort of audio would be great.

Please help me :)

Without AC-3 support the program will not be able give you sound with video files using AC-3. I understand that it's a liscensing issue with Doby Studio, which requires royalties be paid to use AC-3 support. This is why the trials don't have it. You'll just have to buy the program. If MF recognizes the video otherwise, it's pretty safe to assume you won't have the problem once you buy the program.

Yeah. That's because it doesn't have the encoder or decoder. It can't decode the AC3 and convert it to something else.

AC-3 problem in trial - purchased Movie Factory 4 D.C

Thanks for the replies.
I ordered Movie Factory 4 Disc Creator yesterday so I hope I won't have any problems.
Other than the AC-3 problem in the trial I thought Movie Factory was fantastic.

And thank goodness for this board! :)
