Hello and first post here, i think the title should be "What you don't like?"
I don't say i am an expert like some of the members on this board that use the product a lot more than i do, but i photo edit images from camera and 3d images i make, so at the start i used Paintshop pro 7 and worked my way up, but i have my hard drive crash and burn a few months back and after fitting a new and bigger one, its now 2TB, but been having problems with reinstalling Paintshop, so it got to the point i thought i would get PSP2020, its installed on the computer but the first thing i noticed was how slow it was, if i want to use a tool, a brush or the eraser for example place it where i want to paint remove it just hangs around while the computer things about it. Where i could paint or touch up in earlier PSP's and get the edit done in seconds, 2020 just takes forever, it could be i need more RAM i have 8GB now and a 2 GB graphic card.
Also if i make a mistake i used to go to the tool bar at the top and click the backbutton arrow to undo the action, i now have to go to edit, look at the dropdown, go to undone brush etc, so that's more time wasted,
Not a big fan of all the materials selection boxes, its giving me more choices, like sky, natural etc but i still can't get the colors i want, i liked the old style better
On the whole i used to like Paintshop it was different from Photoshop which had its good and bad parts, but PSP looks like its gone Photoshop now!

Verify if you are in the Complete workspace (right-click on an empty area of your workspace).
Verify also if your Step value (in the Options toolbar) is not too small.
They are also some other tweaking to verify in Preferences (Undo active or not, scratch disk, etc.).
The Materials Palette is also available in the old style (see also in Preferences).

You can also immunise yourself against
"i have my hard drive crash and burn a few months back and after fitting a new and bigger one, its now 2TB, but been having problems with reinstalling Paintshop"
I had that experience some years backk and after spending over 6 hours reinstalling all the programs again I looked for anotherway.
You can get a cloning program which will clone the drive to another internal type drive but enclosedd in an external caddy temporarily. The program and the caddy cost a bit but save a lot of time.
Even better now some of the dual caddies offer the ability to copy from one drive to another without having to buy another software program.
Here is an example of the caddy
https://www.videoguys.com.au/Shop/p/279 ... -250e.html
I use one like this to copy my main computer hard drive each couple of months. All you need is the ability to remove the hard drive from your main computer and the copy process is done in from 2 - 6 hours depending on the speed of the drives.
So when a hard drive eventually crashes all you need to do is remove and replace the drive - takes me less than 5 minutes. Then all you have to do is reinstall any more recent programs installed after the last save and copy over any ocs that you need.

Re: What I Don't Like About PSP2020
Thanks for that guys, i have a habit of jumping right in and thinking it's not working, instead of stepping back and looking how the thing works first, changed to complete work space and that helped a lot, only thing not happy with is using text, typing words on to a photo, is like the way Photoshop works, type on to the image or layer, i use to like the older style with the text editor box, then i can change the fonts or size to what i need and paste that on and then still have to tool to move ,adjust etc.
Now i need to get some of my older fonts back,
Cheers guys

This is maybe the first keyboard shortcut you should memorize along with select tool. moving mouse is so inefficient so learning at least the most used commands to be used from keyboard is real time saver. Also changing the brush size without clicking with mouse etc. are to me the ones saving lot of time when editing and drawing.keef666 wrote: if i make a mistake i used to go to the tool bar at the top and click the backbutton arrow to undo the action
But I agree that compared to PSP 7 this software has become almost unbearably sluggish. I have now maybe 10 times the computing power that I had 10 years ago, and even the basic things are slower to perform than then.

Re: What I Don't Like About PSP2020
I am always shocked when I invoke PSP7. It is right there, right now.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
