Re: VS2018 stopped working when trying to open a VSP from 20
Hi RickMen
Usually with corrupt project files are impossible to fix.
A slight chance to open with other earlier programs instead of 2019 could work.
But don’t hold your breath, clutching at straws here.
I doubt than anyone on the forum will be running a Ulead program.
As mentioned if you zip the vsp and attach to your post then at least we can try.

Hi
To my surprise I managed to locate the Ulead VS 7 installation files from 2003
What’s more surprising is that I managed to install that program on my Windows 10
So all I need now is that VSP to see if the program works.
So far I have saved a VSP using VS 7 and opened ok using 2019, incredible..........

Well, Lata, I purchased ULead VS9 about 2005 and I am still using it just fine for the kind of family history
DVD's I create. Does the job for me but I still follow the forum for hints and troubleshooting for the future.

That being the case, how did you get all the property details you posted in the initial problem statement?

Rickmen.
I tried/cannot see anyway to get all the project details he outlined, esp the version, using explorer. The information on display looks to have come from VS, hence opening the project at least seemed the only way it could happen. Yet he says when he does that, the program crashes. Still confused

The information that he posted in the first post is for VS2018 and has no information about the VSP that he is trying to open. At least none that I can see. I also don't understand what he means by "version 7" or where he gets that informationDavidk wrote:Rickmen.

I didn't use explorer. I used VS, under File->Open Project you get a dialog box (Just like in the picture posted by asik1) (from memory but I'm not in front of my usual PC) and instead of selecting 'Open' there is another button that says 'Info', I used that button.Davidk wrote:Rickmen.

Re: VS2018 stopped working when trying to open a VSP from 20
I'm not sure what you mean by 'property details'. I posted details about the error that was recorded in window's 'Event Viewer'. Event Viewer is a tool in Windows that displays detailed information about significant events on your computer ie failures/crashes etc. Event Viewer is useful for troubleshooting Windows and application errors.Davidk wrote:That being the case, how did you get all the property details you posted in the initial problem statement?

Given that I have installed Ulead VS 7 and “whoppke” has Ulead VS 9 installed, it is possible that we may be able to open your VS7 project, can you provide that VSP file
If we can open the VSP we should be able to open using 2019, save and return to you.
Saying that corrupt VSP files are practically impossible to fix but we can try.

Re: VS2018 stopped working when trying to open a VSP from 20
Ah. I see the info button there - in some cases. Select the vsp but don't "open" it, choose info instead - I got info on an x10 vsp that way, but there was no info available on an even older vsp (x7) - the info button greyed out. But in the case where info was available, version number certainly wasn't in it. So it's a hit-or-miss thing, it seems.
Also, a project created in 2008 would have been, at best, version 11.5 - the last Ulead release of VS before Corel bought it late 2007/early 2008. As I understand it, you were using an even older version . . . so combining factors like 32bit (maybe some 16bit included) software, a product Corel is not responsible for and changed substantially when they acquired it, and the progression of Corel's development of VS over the last 10 years - I think your best bet is going to be re-create it from scratch: assuming the original files are available (which they would have to be, even if 2018 opened and played it).

Attached is a VS2018 version of your VSP. You'll have to relink the clips which should be straightforward. tletterRickMen wrote:Here the zip file of the VSP.

I downloaded the zip file, unzip the VSP file and tried to open the vs2018 VSP version, Corel crashed! ie "Corel has stopped working" message.
