Pan & zoom does not retain Settings VS2018

Post by alanball »

Hi all
I,m having a problem in VS2018 with Key frames not being retained about 50% of the time when exiting Pan and Zoom. This happens both when picking a location for a key frame on the KF track with the mouse, and moving it to a location with the mouse, but also happens when using the sliders to locate a key frame.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a workaround? Its very frustrating having to keep on going in and out of P&Z and finding the settings are not retained and having to do the hole things again. The problem happens with just a couple of KF's or a number of KF's.

I find P&Z has also been a problem with crashes both in VSX10 and VS2018 and have to try to remember to save before using P&Z.

Any comments, Thanks

Hi Alan
There are a couple if issues when using the Pan & Zoom one effects 2018 and I believe 2019
Both these versions have had P & Z updated.
The first bug is the addition of a rogue Keyframe I believe only occurs when in edit mode is set to On the Fly
You can check this
Open the P&Z panel, only beginning and ending keyframes showing
Select the end keyframe, now move position by dragging the screen or adjusting the Vertical / Horizontal sliders
I see an additional keyframe added to the left of the end keyframe
Of course adding these keyframes does cause confusion.

Switch Edit Mode to Animation to avoid this bug.

For all versions
When we add more than one Keyframe they sit on top of each other.
If we try to drag the crosshair on the screen it is most likely we will select the wrong crosshair / keyframe I find this most annoying.
The best option is to move the crosshair by using the Position / anchor points, those 9 little squares, and for later versions adjusting the Vertical / Horizontal sliders
Sending the cross-hair away from the others will allow us to drag the screen knowing we have the correct keyframe.

As for loosing keyframes or keyframes disappearing I have not had a problem.

Hi lata
thanks for your reply. I think you have solved my problem in a round about way by bringing my attention to the Edit Mode setting. After moving from VSX10, and going through the manual for VS2018 I have missed the added detail of the Edit selection, and didn't realize that Pan & Zoom always return's to the static mode after each selection. So hopefully remembering to change the edit mode each time I use P&Z will solve my problem.
Thanks again lata, I've lost track off how many times you have solved problems for me.

Regards

In VS2018, there are three ways to invoke Pan & Zoom and each one has a different default option - see the topic at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63601#p356329
