I have a not unusual problem for this product on installation. Despite on-line help from Corel and follow-up emails the problem is quite simple and unresolved. During installation I get the pop-up message "Error We encountered a problem while installing. Please contact Technical Support." I also went through the steps as set out in https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... stallation
Again - installation failed. Software installation issues seem to have occurred following the Windows 10 (Home) update dated 30.9.2019 version 1903. In my case I am running an SSD and HDD. The SSD is now almost full so installation has to be to the HDD drive. Any ideas?

Re: VideoStudio Problem While Installing
Hi
and welcome to the forums
I don’t have any other ideas to installing the program
Did you fully complete the uninstall and registry tweaks
Do you have any other versions of Video Studio installed, if so i would try removing those as well.
I would also run the Cleanup tool download from this post
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Even though VS have not installed correctly may remove any leftover traces from the failed installation.
Clutching at straws i am afraid
At the end of the knowledge base article it said
If you still get the error message, please reach out to our technical department for further assistance. http://support.corel.com

Re: VideoStudio Problem While Installing
If your SSD is really close then you will have issues. The VS installation writes files into your user profile, not just the Programs directory. So even if you set the primary directory to the HDD instead of Programs on C:\, files will be added to C:|.helifly100 wrote:The SSD is now almost full so installation has to be to the HDD drive. Also, during the installation, VS writes temp/install compressed files then decompresses during installation. Those files could also be written to your C:\ SSD drive which takes a lot of temporary space.

In fact the SSD is not so full - but the capacity is just below that needed to install VideoStudio. Other programs are installed on the HDD and run without any issues. Corel seems to feel there is an issue with a recent update to Windows 10.

Trevor - thanks. Corel support has not quite been too helpful (I moderate my words here). I think the issue is one of auto-pasting possible solutions without having regard to all of the facts at their disposal. For example I said to Support that I had downloaded the Cleanup tool and used it - so Support simply asked me to download it again!

Re: VideoStudio Problem While Installing
Hi
I would use windows Program and Features to uninstall the program followed by running the cleanup tool
Then delete any folders from
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Although they should have already been deleted.
Use my Win Optimiser to cleanup my pc, Ccleaner is used by some of the forum members, just to clear any leftover registry entries.
Running the web installer the 10 Mb file (VideoStudio_Install.exe) download the installation files again
Create a new folder for the download files
Downloading only the Main Program installation file, the top option
Then install the main program, no other packs.
And if that works download the other packages and install

Re: VideoStudio Problem While Installing
When installing, the installer allows you to choose the locations (drive and folder path) for the installation. At the end of the list boxes is a square with small dots in it - means choose your specific location. Clicking that box opens a navigation panel for that purpose. The default is the C drive for everything.
If you use a custom installation/location to the hard drive, some items (esp for bonus pieces like Boris) will still install to the C drive.
I provide my class students with a handout for these situations. This detail was written for 2018 but also applies to 2019
