Upgrade when I am editing ?

Post by varadero99 »

Have received an offer to upgrade VideoStudio. Can I upgrade when I am in a job or should I wait until the job is done before I upgrade?

When you upgrade, you receive the full version of the program. Upgrading just affects the price you pay i.e. you get it cheaper if you have an earlier version. But installing the new version does not overwrite the older version, which will continue to function. So you can upgrade, but complete your project on your older version, which is probably advisable. When the project is finished you can uninstall the older version if you wish, though many of us here keep earlier versions as well as the latest, just in case...

Don't worry Peter, the offer will keep coming back next month.
You better finish your current project. Than when you calm, evaluate the offer. Upgrade isn't a 100% better thing.

Stay on your x10 for a while. The offers will continue for a long time.

If you find the offer appealing then take as you can install it when convenient. That being said, you should complete your current project using the version of VS that you started with if your project is well along since newer versions of VS do not necessarily seamlessly import a VSP created by an older version.

Lots of experienced comments. I never ever update anything related to video while in the middle of a project. Heck, even installing a "newer" version might cross contaminate an executable file in the version I am using. Finish your project, then consider updating. There will always be sales.... always....

Thank you for your advice. I finish the job and then I see what Corel has to offer.
