Help with Audio/Video sync problem

Post by ShelG27 »

I am desperate and would be grateful if someone can help me. I have just recently learned how to make videos in the last few months for my new business and have hit a snag:

I am using VideoStudio Ultimate 2019. I record my videos on a Samsung HMX-F90, render, then upload to Vimeo for hosting. I just realized that 12 out of my 16 videos on Vimeo have the endings cut off. The files play completely on VLC on my computer. This is the response I received from Vimeo this morning, "It appears as though the reason your video is cutting short is due to a duration mismatch between the audio and video tracks. Your video contains an audio track that is 9889.9 seconds long, while the video track is 9846.7 seconds long.In order to fix this issue, I recommend adjusting your audio and video tracks within your editing software to match.

How do I do this when I've recorded both audio and video together on my Samsung and they are not separate in VideoStudio?

In what format is the video you uploaded? Is the video you uploaded really over 2.5 hours in length?

Could you post the video/audio properties of the video you uploaded. The following link is for an excellent program to obtain those properties

I've experienced this on YouTube. The solution is to re-render with a better match between the profile used for rendering and the properties of your source clips.

Experience shows that one should always proof view an uploaded video from the host site before it's made viewable by others.

The only thing that I can see that could be causing problems is the variable frame rate. As has been reported in these forums VS does have problems with variable frame rate video from some devices but works fine with other devices.
Do all your videos show the problem after uploading? Do they all have the variable frame rate?

They are all done the same way. I'm new at this and rendered them as I was told to do by a couple of "experts." 4 of the 16 videos I've uploaded to Vimeo play perfectly. 12 have the problem. My IT guy was wondering about the variable frame rate also. Vimeo said this morning that they have assigned my case to one of their specialists. Again, thank you so much for your consideration!

Do the 4 videos that play correctly have variable or constant frame rate?

What is the frame rate on the original video (before rendering)?

They are all the same 30p and variable I believe.

After bringing the file to the timeline..

Right click the file & use "split audio" into it's own audio track... (if needed move it down to music track)

Then move the audio to match the Video ending time... If there is excess, trim one or the other. Then test render...

If sync is still whacked, undo what you just did & then, split & remove video and/or audio if and/or where needed. Zoom by maximum & move tracks forward or backward by ticks until you're matched... and again render & test again, if still out, drop markers where spots are of & split & move accordingly...

I've been using VS a long time and I've always found for the best A/V sync, I nearly always having to move audio roughly +.8 ~ +1.3 seconds forward or backward (per ~5 mins) ...depending on which camera I'm using.

P.S. Do you know if there is a program that I can download that will show me exactly how the video will play on Vimeo or YouTube? Since my videos play fine on VLC and Windows and VideoStudio, it's hard to know if I"ve got it right until it's uploaded. And that takes sooooo long!
