I'm having a problem importing audio in to Ulead Video Studio 10 and can't work out what the issue is because the raw file plays back fine without any audio drops but when I import the file and move it to the storyboard there are random audio drop outs and the waveform flatlines. Only for 1-3 seconds each time but enough to mute the audio which ruins the whole recording.
I capture the audio and video using OBS Studio that records the DJ software I'm using. I can only capture in .MOV and .MP4 so I have to then convert it to WMV so I can import it in to Video Studio. There are no problems with the original .MP4 or converted .WMV file and I can replay them both with no audio drops using Windows Media Player and VLC Player but when I import it to Video Studio there are random audio dropouts.
I've noticed a workaround because if I convert the original .MP4 to MP3 I can then import that MP3 file in to Video Studio and it doesn't have any audio drops so I can have the video file with the audio muted and the MP3 file for the audio. Or split the audio file and delete it so I can add the MP3 file which has the same outcome of the combined video and audio playback with no audio dropouts. It's not ideal because I do a lot of editing and this would mean I have to trim both video and audio files. I'm converting the file using the 'same as original' option in my converter software and while it drastically increases the file size it creates a high quality video I can add to Video Studio and ultimately burn to HD WMV. I just can't work out what is causing the audio to glitch like this. While there doesn't seem to be a pattern to the dropouts they do appear to only start happening when the recording is a few minutes in and then re-occur every 2-3 minutes.
I've been doing some experimenting and if I convert the original .MP4 file to a lower quality output the result is a big decrease in these audio dropouts when I add the converted file to Video Studio. Please help!

Are you talking about Corel VideoStudio? Ulead VideoStudio seems to be completely different program

From what I understand Ulead was renamed Corel. I'm using software called Ulead Video Studio SE that was included on a DVD that came with an analogue to digital converter called EasyCap. The .exe is called Video Studio 10.canuck wrote:Are you talking about Corel VideoStudio? Ulead VideoStudio seems to be completely different program

You are running v10 of software that is now at v22! It's my understanding that SE was a Special Edition version that had a limited feature set and was given away with certain hardware including cameras, etc. Hence I don't imagine that many people today are running such old software so getting help may be a challenge.Jamie D wrote: I'm using software called Ulead Video Studio SE that was included on a DVD that came with an analogue to digital converter called EasyCap. There is a program called Ulead VideoStudio 10 which can still be downloaded from various sites. It came out in 2006 just before Corel took over Ulead. It is of course completely different from the newer Corel VideoStudio version.

You may be best in reading this post regarding Easycap re Ezcap

OK
Video Studio should accept MP4 and Mov files, you should not have to convert to WMV
Have you installed the Quicktime codec which may be required to use MOV files
You should only install the codec not the player, this post refers.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63588&p#p356253
Your workflow
You mention “and ultimately burn to HD WMV”
If you are burning a DVD rather than a data disc then you should convert to Mpeg2 DVD file as that type of file is used to burn all DVD discs.
In fact you should be able to use the device to capture to Mpeg2
If the problem is with the limitations of the UVS10SE version then there is little we can do other than advise you replace the software or Easycap with Ezcap or another more reliable capture device.

Re: Audio Glitch In Ulead Video Studio 10
Thanks for the advice and having checked the link to the EasyCap page I have to admit I had the knock-off version without realising. I bought it in 2010 for £5 from Amazon and it took a while to get it working but I was able to use it to digitise about 50 hours of home camcorder footage on VHS tapes to the PC so I could burn them to DVDs as Christmas presents. I like to do projects on a shoestring so was pleased I was able to convert everything with an outlay of just £5 and the quality was the same as the VHS tape. I used Cyberlink PowerDVD to create the DVDs at the time and I only discovered VS10SE on the disk a few years ago so started using it to edit DJ mixes.lata wrote:You may be best in reading this post regarding Easycap re Ezcap

Thanks also for the advice about Quicktime because I had it installed on my old Windows 7 system and could import MP4 and MOV files but I read about the security risk of installing Quicktime on Windows 10 so decided against it. I didn't realise just installing the codec is enough and there is no risk so I will do that which will save time converting everything and might also fix the audio drops issue.
I feel bad that all this time I've been using software that was bundled without permission and the more I read about VideoStudio 2019 the more geared up I am to buying it within the next month or two. Knowing now that VS10SE isn't supported because of how it was supplied is also another good reason.

HI
Your lucky that you managed to get the Easycap device working, for me it just did not do the job, although I don’t think I paid that much money for it.
I already had a purchased version of UVS10 so did not bother with installing the SE version.
The SE version will be cut down and I don’t know what is missing, still have that disc somewhere.
If you check messages via UVS10 it may give you an offer for the latest version, (not sure about messages as it is the older Ulead version but worth a try)
CVS 2019 I have to say that many users are having problems with random closes of the program, hopefully to be addressed with the next service pack.
