Installing upgrade version on new pc

Post by Zantara »

I bought a new pc and now have to install PSP on it.
I have all versions from X2 upwards.

Installed PSP 2020 without thinking, then wanted to install 2019 as well, as it has Perfectly Clear plugin.
PSP 2019 wouldn't install, neither would 2018, which has the same plugin, although a different version.
Realised that 2018 and 2019 were bought as an upgrade, so with 2020 on my pc, I thought I found the reason why.
Removed PSP 2020, but still can't install 2018 or 2019.
Installed PSP X2, without a problem, but it doesn't help installing the upgrades 2018 and 2019.

Any advise on how to install an upgrade version of PSP on a brand new pc?

An upgrade shouldn't be the issue as upgrade refers only to the price.

Are you installing from a CD or have you saved the installation files to some sort of media device?

Are you getting an error message?

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for answering.
I have never bought a boxed version, always the download.
I saved the files on harddrives.
There is no specific error message.
With both versions (2018 and 2019) it said: "unknown error"
Installed both versions as an administrator.

UPDATE: I only got the new pc yesterday. Today it installed the Windows 10 Home Build 1903.
Tried PSP 2019 again and it installed, sweet as a nut.
Very strange, as Build 1903 wasn't brought out yet when PSP 2019 was launched.
Never mind. I now have my Perfectly Clear plugin. That is what is was about.
PSP 2020 installed without problems.

Case closed. :D

Glad you got it sorted. I bought a new Windows 10 PC back in May and had a devil of a time installing PSP. In fact, I had Microsoft help me. We tried so many things I lost track of what finally worked. Anyhow, this was pre-1903 so it sounds like there was a compatibility issue with PSP and Windows 10 pre-1903; at least for the two of us.

I had a similar problem where a program would not install. Then there was an update and the program installed correctly.

I wonder if what is happening - rarely is that behind the scenes, Windows takes over and starts preparing for an install and from that point until the installation is complete it will not allow any other competing installation to occur.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
