VideoStudio is very slow and unresponsive.

Post by xXGrimHunterXx »

I'm very new to using video editing software but I believe the build I have should be sufficient for video editing. I record my clips with my Elgato game card from my Xbox at 1080p. With my GPU/CPU I thought I should be fine. I'm also running the program from my SSD. Even just playing or pausing the clips in the program itself would cause it to not be responsive for a solid 5-10seconds.

Any help would be extremely appreciated!

Probably the VS is creating the proxies. On the clips on the time line you should see the small icon showing the clip has already its proxy, if not, you have to wait. After that the VS will speed up.

What is Proxy and how do I make sure it gets proxied?

So it shouldn't be anything hardware-wise, correct?

Go to the top bar ( I think F6 is a link there), at settings you can define proxy settings. It is used to speed up the editing proces, it makes from the HD and 4K files a smaller equivalent, what is easier to handle in the editor. When the editing is done at rendering the VS will use the original files.

This isn't my experience with VS2018 (fully patched 21.4.0.165) as the proxied files are used whilst rendering unless "Enable Smart Proxy" is first deselected.
