Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
Few of us here actually use MyDVD. I simply ignore it and keep it off my desktop, though I guess I could uninstall it. But if you are unlikely ever to use it, and want Irfanview, then I would uninstall MyDVD and attempt to reinstall Irfanview. Or if, as it seems, it is already installed, see if it will now function with MyDVD uninstalled...

That sounds good, Ken, but I can't see any way to uninstall My DVD separately?
Can you describe?
Thank you...

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
You can remove My DVD from Control Panel / Program & Features, locate MyDVD Contents Packs 1 & 2 and uninstall

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
Hi Jim
I have “Irfanview” installed and of course My DVD yet have not had any problems
If you wish to uninstall -- in addition to the Contents you would also have to uninstall VideoStudioMyDVD also from Program and Features
Can you confirm that uninstalling MyDVD did fix the problem you experienced in installing “Irfanview”
Post Updated
I have another issue with re-linking the library of 2019 to X7 clips as image
This has been reported before with no apparent fix other than a re-install of the program, at least I do not know of a quick fix.
I have not run program in over a week but now running MyDVD along with VS 2019 and Irfanview may have affected the library, obviously not conclusive that Irfanview has caused this problem?
I have no choice but to uninstall Video Studio MyDVD and Irfanview and to re-install.

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
To clarify, it was not about installing Irfanview -- which is one of my favorite small apps BTW -- it was that Irfanview would not run because of Win10 insisting on "installing" MyDVD, which was already installed, of course. At any rate (AAR?) after removing VideoStudio MyDVD and all its content, Irfanview seems back to normal. Thanks for all the help everyone !

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
I recently purchased VS Ultimate 2019 64bit on a special price deal or would not have bothered - 2018 was working for me, very stable and no issues, it may have crashed a couple of times in all the use I had given it.
Not so this latest version, seems it will crash at the slightest challenge. I have a small 7 minute video I have been working on and have experienced perhaps a dozen crashes, one where it lost most of the clips from the time line despite the settings showing "save every minute." I can think of no good reason, no new "other" software on the PC so am finding this all a bit disappointing.
What is the experience of other users with regard stability of this current program? I have been a small time user since purchasing Ultimate X6 with each version since without this much trouble and wonder if my aging PC may be contributing even though it is fine with all other programs I use?

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
I've had some disappointing crashes with VS2019 Ultimate too, and I feel like they changed some hings that made stuff harder to do. Haven't lost any files though. Just freeze ups. Hope there's an update soon.

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
On the matter of PC hardware, one would think that Corel would update their program to reflect the availability of much faster systems of today and it went through my mind that just perhaps in this process, my now "ancient" PC is stumbling trying to deal with the changes. Whilst I operate on Win 10 and use an SSD for programs, the files all still remain on a separate "spinning disc" drives with all Video saved on a specific designated drive. I have plenty of Ram as can be seen in my system specs, so doubt that is the problem.
A year or two ago I looked at updating but could get no definitive specification for my purposes so I continued on with an otherwise good, if unremarkable system which I still have to this day.
I note video cards have taken a leap forward in processing capability since my venerable old device was created - but what to buy if VS is the target software?
Some sound advice from a well qualified source would be appreciated - more especially if it is going to help with some of the bugs being reported with the current and future versions of VS Ultimate.

Reference to the minimum System Requirements is found at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65122Skipper wrote:A year or two ago I looked at updating but could get no definitive specification for my purposes
Search on this forum and you'll find many discussions of this topic. The bottomline is that VS doesn't come close to fully utilizing the CPU and doesn't touch the GPU whilst rendering.Skipper wrote:I note video cards have taken a leap forward in processing capability since my venerable old device was created - but what to buy if VS is the target software?

Re: Video Studio Ultimate 2019 MyDVD crashes Irfanview
As was the experience last time I looked, the minimum specifications do absolutely nothing to help in the selection of a computer that "could" be optimised for maximum performance and trouble free use of the VS program. It is my understanding (for instance) that Corel use a particular brand of video card when they are developing the program. How much easier it would be if they acknowledged the product they use.
And before anyone writes "But - they can't be seen to play favourites lest they compromise their relationship with other hardware suppliers and/or customers" I say nonsense - the program will still work with other hardware, it is about stability and speed, the very problem we seem to face here?
I note some users say "I don't have any issues with the current version" and neither did I with the 2018 or prior versions, while others have had problems to a lesser or greater degree with these.
Any knowledge about what hardware the program was developed on would be useful since Corel surely don't set out to make a product with glitches or release to the market something which has not been tested? That leaves the possibility that at least some of the issues relate to the idiosyncrasies of particular hardware, which can often be avoided when one is purchasing a generic brand PC and can specify what hardware is installed
