I have been using Paintshop Pro since the X7 release and the one thing that I have never been able to do is remove objects from a photo to past into another photo. I have just upgraded to Paintshop Pro 2020 and am still unable to easily do this.
So let us say I have this photo of this motorcycle and just want to take the motorcycle out the photo to past into another photo.
Thanks that does help if I have more defined items I wish to remove but for the bike I am still left with having to use the background erase for the finer part.
I have done a lot of 'cutout' objects. The truth of the matter is that there is no easy way. The computer/program/editor can help only so much. There are often areas of similar colours than the computer doesn't know if you want/need to keep or not. For the rest you have to rely on your eye and good old techniques. It can be tedious. Use the Freehand Selection tool to draw/select areas and then delete them. Many small selections one by one. Remember to save often or you may regret it!! Add a layer below your image to help with selection. I always use a bright pink as it is distinct from the object you are trying to cut out.
Also try resizing the image to say 4 times the current size and working on that - gives you a larger image to work on the smaller details and then you can resize back dow to the required size.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Very helpful suggestion.
You can try several techniques, use the one that works best for that particular image. For example, you could try playing with blend ranges, with the target image on an underlying or an overlying layer. You can Try enlarging the image and doing a background erase. Or use the Magic Wand tool and play with how you select what you are going to delete. For example, if you have something in the sky, maybe the Match Mode set to Color. There are eight match modes, with Tolerance settable for 0 to 200 on six of them.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
A motorbike is a challenging subject at the best of times. I can't see any 'automatic' way that will avoid a lot of detail work. Getting between all the spokes will require a lot of clean deletions. The below image took hours of work. I had to continually zoom in and out deleting one selection at a time. My image started as a 6000x4000 file. Zooming into 200%+ will give you a better chance of a clean result.
