oooOOO! Corel done got in trouble for spamming Amazon.com!

Post by jungleexplorer »

LOL! So for the last few weeks, Corel has been been spamming my computer with incessant ads and begging me to review VS 2019 on amazon.com. I finally gave in and clicked on the link to write a review on amazon, and got a huge warning page saying that Amazon has blocked reviewing Corel products because of "Unusual Activity".

Act like a spammer, get treated like a spammer. I hope Corel starts acting like a mature company again and fires their advertising manager.

I have not received a single "spamming" e-mail from Corel.

I get hit all day long by ads from Corel through email, in-program ads, and windows system tray ads. It is pretty excessive. Sure I can turn them all off, but then I might miss a really good deal. It is not the ads that bother me. It is the frequency and the redundancy of them. It is the kind of behavior that I would expect from a low-class company or a spam company, not Corel. Evidently, Amazon.com agrees with me that they have gone a little overboard trying to promote their products. Product promotion is expected, but there are still some standards and boundaries about how you go about it. That is why we call it Spamming when companies cross these lines. Corel seems to be forgetting this.

I don't think VS is amazing, but I would not go as far to call it crapware. It does okay for me. Obviously, it could be better, but I can get buy with it. It's better than forking over hundreds a year for Adobe products and than having them sabotage your software to force you to upgrade. I like the software I can own and use as long as I want, and upgrade only when I want to, not when the company decides I have the software I paid for long enough. That is one of the things I like about VS.

I own an old version of Adobe Master Suite, but I never use it. Never did like Adobe software. It's like whoever wrote it spoke some other language than English. I just never felt like learning another language so I could use a piece of software.

I did not refer to VS, it looks as any day is a deal day. I think that, once you set your mind in buying than decide what is a fair price for you to spend for it and check occasionally.

Stop scapegoating Adobe. How many years has it been? I'm pretty sure your old version works just fine on the newest version of Windows 10, considering people are still using versions as old as CS2 (which Adobe "mistakenly" gave away, years ago) on the most recent OS.

The English used in Lightroom is no different from what's used in Capture One Pro.

The English used in Premiere Pro is no different from what's used in Avid Media Composer or DaVinci Resolve.

The English used in After Effects is no different from what's used in HitFilm Pro or Motion 5.

The English used in Sports Medicine is no different from what's used in Podiatry.

Biology uses similar English to Anthropology. A femur doesn't become something different simply because you're a newbie non-professional who doesn't understand the roots of the words.

These things are consistent within each application domain.

That's part of the learning curve. If you're too lazy to get over that hump, then stick with the low end consumer products... and don't complain about the worst performance, stability, results, etc. that you get out of them.

VideoStudio is the less-good NLE that Corel Sales. Pinnacle Studio is better, and even it has its own issues with stability and bugginess. VS is useful for getting ahold of some plugins (like the Titlers) to use for specific purposes... But that is less attractive now that you can get Fusion 9 or Resolve 16 for free, and just [learn how to] use those.

Prices for NLEs are lower than they've ever been in history. You can get better software for literally nothing, these days.

PaintShop Pro 2020, Pinnacle Studio 23 Ultimate, and Painter 2019 is literally on Humble Bundle for $25, right now (all of it, and then some - not each).

No monthly "fees". It is legit and I've used them for games and productivity software (such as Vegas Pro bundles).
