Videos only showing as thumbnails all of a sudden.

Post by rkstudio »

Can someone tell me why, when I insert a video to the timeline or the library, they only show in thumbnail size instead of full screen. I've had VSX9 a long time now and this is the first time this ever happened. Please help!
BTW, its not my cameras fault because it's that way with my phone camera too.

You will have to explain your problem a bit more.

I have never seen the thumbnails as full screen when added to the timeline or library.

Actually it's just the opposite. In the preview screen, they are showing up as little, tiny thumbnails. I should say a thumbnail size video in the preview window. They usually show up all of the preview screen, but not this time.

Posting an image of what you're seeing would help people to better understand the situation.

Hi
If the timelines show the video as thumbnails then you are probably in StoryBoard view not Timeline View
Click the adjacent icon to switch views
If it is not the timeline views then as suggested a screen shot / image of what you see would help

Ok, here is a screenshot of the problem I'm having. For some reason it's happening no matter which device I upload from, the camera or the phone. I suppose it's some kind of setting in VS X9.[attachment=0]VS_Screen Capture.JPG[/attachment
I'm not in storyboard view, I'm in the timeline screen.

Unfortunately you cropped off the video and overlay tracks so it's not known where your clip is sitting. In any event, try the "Fit to Screen" option.

You would normally get that sort of view if your video is in an overlay track and not the main track...

Strange
If the clip was on the overlay track then we should see the yellow trim/resize handles
Are you sure the black surround is not part of the clip?

Go to Preferences and change the background colour, any colour except black
What do you see
Provide a screenshot including timelines

Thanks, Ken...But it's a the regular video track, not at all on an overlay track.

Well if I did that, I sure don't know how. I dont' even know how to crop off the video. Also, the clip is sitting on the video track. Also, there is no fit to screen option.

No, the black background is not part of the clip. This is happening in every video I input. I've had VS 9 for a long time now and this is the first time this every happened. No matter what clip I insert, it goes into the preview window in thumbnail size. I wonder if my VS is broken and what would I do about it.

The statement was "you cropped off the video and overlay tracks". Obviously this refers to your image which has been cropped "so it's not known where your clip is sitting".

Hi Guys
Using X9 does not have Crop / Scale feature for top video track, No Fit to Screen options

So adding a clip there will not show the yellow trim / resize handles, as rkstudio image.
Clips added to the top track are always “fit to height” and if that image were 16:9 would fill the screen.

The image is certainly unusual and somehow defies logic?
Unless you have applied a FX filter – Picture-in-Picture is one that would cause that effect
What do you see when viewing in Clip or Project mode, does that change the view?
Otherwise
Can you try resetting the program by renaming the 19.0 folder to 19.0_old
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0\

Your right, Trevor. My version does not have fit to screen. I clicked everything that could possibly be clicked and it's not anywhere.

My version is Corel Video Studio 19.5.0.35.

Also, to let you know, I finally fixed it but I don't know how, exactly, but what I did was restart it about 3 times. And I also went to control panel to uninstall/repair, but there was no repair option so I backed out of the uninstall option until I knew for sure that I can find my serial number. I haven't seen it or even needed to, for years.
So then I started VS again and it worked somehow! I wish I know for sure if it was just restarting it or going to 'uninstall". Well I hope it doesn't do that again because it cost my about 2 weeks worth of work.
